Lou responded with a devilish laugh and waded toward me. Meeting me where I could stand with just my head above the surface, he latched onto me. Climbing onto my back, he locked his legs around my waist.

That was when I became grateful for the ice bath. If it wasn’t for it, he would know how turned on I was. How could I hide my hard cock if it was poking him in the foot?

“Do you like it?”

“Yeah,” I said thinking he was talking about him holding me.

“I don’t think the rest of my family knows about it.”

“Oh, you mean the lake?”

“Yeah,” he replied as he got comfortable placing his cheek on the side of my head.

I turned around to get a better view of everything.

“How could they not know about this place? This has got to be the most beautiful site in fifty miles.”

“Do you see Martha or Frank walking forty minutes to experience the beauty of nature?”

I chuckled imagining his mother walking here wearing one of her fancy suits.

“I don’t know. I could see you and your brother coming here as kids.”

Lou huffed. Chris was always the way he is now. I used to think that he was as miserable as I was growing up. But then I realized he wasn’t. He was perfectly content to make snide comments and plot his takeover of the world. He just had a resting bitch face.

I chuckled before realizing what he had said.

“So you were miserable growing up?”

“Yeah. This was the place I came when things got too much. I was thinking I would donate this part of the estate to the county when I inherited it. But I guess that’s not going to happen now.”

“Wait, all of this is your family’s land? From the house to here?”

“And beyond.”

“Oh my god!”

“It’s a lot,” he said with sadness.

“I guess none of this matters if you have a sucky situation growing up.”

“You can either have love or money. You might get neither or a little bit of both. But you can’t have this much of one for this long and expect to also get the other.”

“What about Quin?” I asked. “His father is one of the richest people in the world. And from everything he’s ever mentioned, he and his father have a great relationship.”

“It’s new money. My grandmother told me it takes a special type of person to manage generational wealth. Maybe, in the end, my grandmother realized I was too much of a mess to be trusted.”

“You can’t think like that?”

“Why not?” he said defeated.

“Because unless you ask your parents what got your grandmother to change her mind, anything you come up with will just be a guess.”

“I don’t have to guess what my parents think of me.”

“You can’t let them get to you.”

“Why not? It’s not like I’ve ever been able to stop them.”
