Although I had seen him at practice, it wasn’t until I returned to our room that Cali and I spoke.

“Hey,” he said unable to meet my eyes.

“Hey.”

“Sorry,” he said saying it all.

“No. Thank you,” I told him.

He looked up at me and smiled.

Retreating to our beds, he popped in his earbuds and we both lost ourselves in thought.

The next morning it was me who woke Cali up.

“Where are you going?”

“To find Lou,” I told him determined.

“Do you need me to go with you?”

“I’m good. Thanks, though.”

Cali nodded and rolled over.

If I had asked him, I was sure he would have gone with me. And maybe I should have. With at least one wolf who could still shift, I wouldn’t have to worry about his family making me disappear. I wondered if they would be capable of that. There was clearly something else going on with Lou’s family. I was starting to believe that magic was involved. But, if there was, what was it and how could Lou not know about it?

A lot of things flashed through my mind as I drove the two hours to the place where Lou and my romance had begun. As badly as the weekend had ended, it held some great memories. I couldn’t help but smile remembering him chanting for me to strip. It was very Lou-like.

What wasn’t was when he kissed me. Having his lips on mine was the most incredible experience of my life, that is until I saw him naked. Damn, was he beautiful. I had never seen anything like him. And when I kissed a trail down his body and took him into my mouth…

Adjusting my hardening cock within the folds of my jeans, I shifted my thoughts to what I would say to his family when I got there. Who was most likely to answer the door? It probably wouldn’t be Chris though I had the best shot at getting him to help me. There was a moment that weekend when it seemed that he didn’t hate me. It ended quickly, but wasn’t it the most I could hope for?

Driving the narrow, tree-lined road to the estate, I slowed down. I knew what I wanted but I still didn’t know what I was going to say. I couldn’t tell them the truth, which was that I was in love with their son and needed to rescue him from people like them. They might not like that.

I was going to have to lie. I needed to come up with something they would care about. Maybe I had to find Lou because there were puppies that needed to be turned into a fur coat? They would connect with that, wouldn’t they?

Pulling into the large, circular brick driveway, I parked my truck to the side. Taking a deep breath, I steadied myself and got out. Searching for my wolf, I could feel him. He was there just out of reach. This was going to be a disaster. But what choice did I have? Lou needed me. I had to try everything.

Approaching the door my heart thumped. My knees were weak as I reached up to the doorbell. I rang it.

What would I do when they tried to throw me out? Would I insist on staying? Would I demand that they tell me where he is? What was I going to do to find the man I loved? What would I do to rescue…

“Lou!” I said seeing the gorgeous face I hadn’t seen in far too long. “Oh my god, Lou!”

Surprise, excitement, and panic washed across his face. He threw his arms around me. I gripped him pulling him tight. Before I could get enough, he pushed me away.

“You need to get out of here,” he insisted.

“I’m not going anywhere without you.”

Knowing I wouldn’t, he looked behind him and came outside closing the door.

“You don’t understand. You have to go.”

“Then you’re coming with me.”

Frustrated and rushed, he gripped my bicep and led me back to my truck.
