Page 75 of Burning for You

This man is certainly not a one-hit wonder. Sometimes orgasm is a gift, sometimes it’s absent. But with Levi, assessing how my body consistently responds to him, I can say it’s guaranteed.

“Love Bug,” I say on a whisper of breath, clinging to him like I’ll never let go.

“What is it, my love?” he whispers back.

I loosen my hold, letting Levi catch his breath. His long fringe, which is usually combed back, falls on his face. I part it, revealing his peacefully closed lids.

While my hands are still at the top of his cheeks, holding his stubborn strands, he slowly opens his eyes.

They glint, somehow reminding me of my own—only his are kinder and softer, and they speak of love. His gaze, bare and vulnerable, is what I wish mine to be, but I haven’t quite have the courage. I hope he’ll show me the way, because he’s the only one I’m willing to open up my heart to, and learn how to love from.

Suddenly I feel a jolt.

Holding my tummy gently, he says, “Hey, you okay?”

“Yeah. I’m a little tender.” I rub my groin. But it’s the kind of tender that’s—

I hold my breath, and then release it like I just had another climax. “That kind of tender.”

“I get the picture,” he says, massaging the spot I’ve just rubbed.

Levi’s white wrinkled shirt is unbuttoned quite low. Leaning on the exposed part of his chest, I let myself rest a few seconds longer. If I could, I would hang on to him and sleep in his arms. But I’m on a mission, and the clock is ticking.

“We’d better go,” Levi whispers.

I nod reluctantly, but with urgency, I get back to my seat and put my clothes on.

The signsto Bozeman Airport loom above us. Almost in tears, I beg, “Please come with me to New York. Please.”

“No. I can’t.”

“Why? Jesse will be okay.”

“I just can’t.”

I shake my head. My gut tightens when Levi pulls over in front of a terminal entrance.

“Go on, you’ll miss your flight,” he says in a burdensome tone.

I take my suitcase off Levi and kiss him goodbye.

“We’ll see each other soon, I promise,” he says.

I give him a sulky nod.

Seeing that, Levi says, “Hey, I depend on you. Jesse and I depend on you.” He cages me in his embrace.

As soon as I enter the terminal, he leaves. It feels like I’d been in a rose garden, but it had suddenly turned into a desert.

A silent scream shudders in my head, begging Levi to come back. What are the chances that he’ll use a tranquilizer gun and take me again?

With my motivation lower than the floor, I check in, and then linger around at the gate, not wanting to use the lounge. Even half an hour feels like an eternity. My fingers reach for Levi’s love bite on my neck. I really can’t deal with this!

Barely seconds later, I receive a message. Levi has sent me a dragonfly picture, the kind that visited us in the truck—a blue dasher, according to him. I hug my phone to my chest, as if the dragonfly was him.

I look around. I’m tucked behind a pillar and there’s no one who can see me, so I lift my skirt and send a picture of my almost visible crotch. I give him the ultimate invitation: You ever fucked on a plane?
