“I hope it’s okay, but I grabbed one of the drivers for thebuilding. It might have taken a few minutes to get an Uber here, and he was just sitting on the curb.”
“That’s perfect. Thank you.”
Cliff nodded and opened the door. “You’re welcome, Sir. Have a good day.”
“You, too.” He caught sight of Jimmy, one of the main drivers, with the back car door open and waiting for him.
“Thank you, Jimmy.”
“It’s my pleasure, Sir.”
The door closed behind him.
Jimmy slid into the driver’s seat. “Where to, Mr. Crenshaw?”
Robert looked out the side window. “Home, Jimmy.”
“All right. I know where that is.”
Robert was dialing before they left the curb.
“Channing, I need your help.”
“Anything you need, man,” Channing said.
“Emmet is threatening my family. I have guys at the house, but I told the men he sent that Grace and I are married.”
“I can have Judge Philips meet you at your house. He’ll take care of whatever you need.”
Robert pressed on his eyes. “Good. Can you be there as a witness? I’ll have Taylor there, too, if needed.”
“I’m on my way,” Channing said.
“We’ll also need to make the marriage date a week or so before.”
“That can easily be done. Don’t worry. We’ll get everything taken care of,” Channing said.
Robert tried to relax, but he knew he wouldn’t be able to until he was with his girls.
Chapter Eleven
Robert pulled into his circular driveway and relaxed when he saw three dark cars with the Brandon Sharp Security emblem on them. Brandon was there to meet him.
“Thank you, Jimmy,” he said when the man opened his door.
“My pleasure, Sir.”
Robert walked to his front steps, where Brandon was standing, giving one of his men directions. Brandon turned to him after he sent the man off. “Tell me what’s going on.”
Robert sighed. “Come on in.” He went to his office and dropped his briefcase on top of his desk. “Follow me. I have to see my girls before I do anything.”
Robert caught sight of Taylor talking with one of the security men by the doorway to the family room. Robert didn’t say anything, but he looked around the corner and saw Grace and Hannah sitting very close together on the sofa, watching a movie.
He was finally able to take a deep breath. He turned to Brandon. “Let’s go back to my office.”
Robert told him about the three thugs who visited him in his office and the threats they made. He told them what Grace’s father wanted to do, but Robert lied and said they were married.
“We’ve got Phillips coming to marry us quickly. I can hack into the public records and put whatever date you want on your marriage certificate. That way, if Nichols has someone check, they’ll find you already married,” Brandon said.
