Brett laughs. “Yeah right, with the way he protected you last night? Nearly killing Mr. Johnson?”

Kate gasps. “Oh my God, I so should have gone to this party!”

My hands graze my throat. “I know I fucked up a lot, but Foster takes the cake right now.” I shiver.

After a perfect night catching up with my two best friends, an idea popped into my head of how I’m going to fix everything.

I know, I know. I need to stop with all the ideas, but this one is genius.

Callum answers the phone on the second ring, “Blue!”

“Hey, Callum!” I smile into the phone.

The other line goes silent for a moment, and I worry he’s with Foster. “Wait, you remember me?”

This is going to be hard to explain to every person in my life. “Long story, but yes.”

“Fuck yeah. Where’s Ghost?”

I sigh in relief; they’re not together. “Umm, he’s not talking to me right now.”

A nervous laugh travels through the phone. “Why?”

“Another long story,” I say with a sigh. “I need a favor.”

“Done, you’re a part of our family. What is it?”

I grab Kate’s keys. “Meet me at DJ’s Pawn Shop. I’ll be there in twenty, if you’re free.”

“Alright.”

“Oh, and please don’t tell Ghost I called you.”

Callum pulls upon his red bike, and Ryder is next to him. “Hey, Blue!” Callum throws his arms around me, pulling me into a hug.

Ryder does the same. “Hey, Skyler.”

They both tilt their heads, and Callum asks, “So did you just wake up and remember?”

I shake my head. “Not exactly.” I take the honest path, explaining in detail as much as I can. I end with a frown. “He hurts me,” I say quietly, and they know who I’m referring too.

“Yeah, we know this,” Ryder admits.

“We’ve been on watch duty since you’ve been there,” Callum adds.

“Really?”

“We’ll help you with anything, Blue. Name it and it’s yours,” he promises.

Ryder holds up a finger. “On one condition. When something goes bad, you call us. We’re your family, and you can never go back to them.”

“I promise I won’t go back …” I pause, knowing I’m breaking couple code by wanting to tell them.

“What’s wrong?” Callum asks.
