She gave me a kind smile before leading Leona into the kitchen.

Panicking as soon as Leona left my sight, I stepped in their direction, but Steele still had a firm grip on my hand. He lifted my hand to his lips, stealing back my attention. His metallic eyes pierced mine as he laid a gentle kiss on the back of my hand. His beard tickled my sensitive skin, leaving goosebumps in their wake. My cheeks heated.

If I’m not careful, I’ll get lost in those gray eyes.

“Are your eyes how you got your nickname?” I blurted.

Curling my lips inward, I bit down to avoid saying anything else. Steele threw his head back and bellowed out a laugh.

“No, sweetheart,” he says, his elbow returned to his knees, bringing our faces inches apart. “They call me Steele because I’m always packing.”

I looked down at the seam of his pants and then back up to a waiting grin on his face that said he caught me looking. Filled with embarrassment and on the verge of a heart attack, I took a step back.

“Would you like to see?” he teased.

His body brushed mine as he stood. I gasped at the sudden contact as he reached in between us. His knuckles brushed against my lower belly. I involuntarily took a step back.

Steele pulled out a pocket knife and laid it on the bar top. Another came from his back pocket. His boots held at least three each. Seconds later, the entire counter was littered with different size blades. My mouth hung open in shock, and he had the audacity to wink. Fucking wink.

Why is that so hot? This man is dangerous in more ways than one.

“Hey, hun, I’m Molly.”

The older lady smiled as she set a plate with a burger and fries next to the knives. My eyes darted down to the plate of food as my stomach growled.

“I’m Katrina. Thank you,” I murmured, sliding into the booth.

“Katrina,” Steele whispered my name like he was testing how it felt on his lips.

“Steele, leave the poor girl alone and let her eat,” Molly chastised. She waved at the knives and said, “And pick this up. The last thing we need is another bar fight.”

My brows shot up to my hairline as I glanced back and forth between them. My curiosity piqued.

“Yes, ma’am,” he said, giving her a playful salute.

He began concealing every knife again somewhere on that sexy body of his before stealing a fry from my plate. He popped it in his mouth and took off out the back exit. My mouth watered for an entirely different reason.

“I’ll see you later, sweetheart.”

What am I getting myself into with this MC?

Chapter Four

Tank

We walked into the bar after taking out the trash. This was the first time in months the Hive had breached our lands, but I was positive it wouldn’t be the last. What I didn’t understand was why they were willing to risk kidnapping in broad daylight.

How did they think they would get away with that?

“They’re getting bold,” Scar thought aloud, mimicking my own thoughts.

“Why her? Why now?” Their carelessness didn’t make any sense.

“We should be askingwhen, not why.Whenwill they try again because you and I both know they will,“ Scar growled.

Our fierce leader carried the world on his shoulders. Ever since we lost Rose, he had taken on more than he could handle. Even now, with this woman and her daughter. He must feel responsible for them. My brother took in all the strays, giving them a place to belong. It was in his nature.

“You’re right, we need to get back and call church. There is something brewing in the air, and I don’t like it.” As the enforcer of our crew, it was my job to make sure the club ran smoothly and our people were protected.
