‘Hey, watch it,’ Kane laughed. ‘Any misdemeanors now could well be carried over in to your punishment!’

Kane was reveling in his role as the Daddy Dom.

For so long he’d avoided being in this position.

This was despite every bone in his body craving it.

Maybe it could work?

Perhaps therewasin fact hope.

Kane knew if the relationship was going to stand a chance, then he had to put his trust in Cassie. But old wounds take a long time to heal. Some never do.

Kane thought back to his old friend, Roddy.

Roddy wasn’t a Daddy Dom, but he was interested the lifestyle, certainly from a partying point of view.

Roddy was a fun-loving party animal. Even more so than Kane. The pair of them almost always would the last two guys hanging out and drinking. Often, they’d end up getting involved in a high stakes card game or some other form of gambling.

It was fun.

But it was also a bit unfair too.

Roddy’s natural charm and charisma meant that Kane would often end up paying for the drinks. Sometimes even covering Roddy’s stakes at a card table or on the roulette wheel.

Kane was trusting.

He felt like it was okay to lend money to a friend, and cover Roddy when he was short on cash. Which increasingly became more and more often.

That’s what friends did, right?

But the long this went on, the more money Roddy began to ask for. And with no indication that he was ever going to pay any money back.

Kane began to feel uncomfortable with the situation.

But each time he brought it up with Roddy, the subject would change. Roddy could be sneaky. He knew how to keep people hanging on. Diverting attention away from himself was another of his tricks.

In the end, Kane decided that enough was enough.

He was going to tell Roddy in a firm but friendly manner that there would be no more money. And that the outstanding debt would need to be paid in regular, affordable installments.

After all, Roddy had a decent job for a large marketing firm and a very respectable income to go alongside it.

This was when the big split happened.

The friendship-ender.

Kane went to Roddy’s apartment to confront him but saw that his place had been vacated. There was no sign that Roddy had ever lived there.

It was strange. And worrying too.

Kane called and messaged Roddy for days but got no response at all. Even worse, Kane discovered that Roddy had hacked his banking information and cleared out Kane’s balance.

It was money he was saving for a cabin on a lake upstate.

How could his best friend do this to him?

It wasn’t until he bumped into a mutual friend of theirs from the casino that Kane discovered that Roddy wasn’t even really called Roddy. He was a hustler.
