‘Daddy, wait,’ Cassie said. ‘There’s something I want to say to Lyle.’
‘Okay, but only if you’re sure you want to,’ Kane said.
‘I’m sure,’ Cassie replied. ‘I’ve never been surer of anything in my life. I have to say this.’
Kane stood with Cage, Katie and Leon as Cassie took a step forward toward a disgraced Lyle.
Kane felt a sense of pride.
Cassie was about to stand up for herself against her bully.
But what exactly was she going to say?
Chapter 21
Cassie
I need to do this.
Show Lyle exactly what I’m made of.
But this isn’t even about him, it’s about me…
Cassie stepped forward and took a deep breath to compose herself.
The sight of Lyle sitting on the floor, his body all slouched, was pathetic. Cassie could see Lyle for exactly what he was.
A sad, spiteful loser.
Cassie almost couldn’t believe how much power she had allowed Lyle to hold over her. But that was how these things worked. Lyle hadn’t just taken advantage of her, he had exploited probably countless other people too.
Cassie could see that Lyle was a troubled individual. One who needed help. Professional help too in all likelihood. But that being said, Cassie had to have her say and make it known to Lyle that she would never accept being trolled or bullied again.
For Cassie, this was about personal growth.
‘Lyle, I want you to know this,’ Cassie said, focusing her energy on speaking as clearly and calmly as she could. ‘What you did to me was disgusting. The worst. I like to live my life positively. With color and rainbows and happy thoughts. You tried to take that away from me. But I’m stronger than that now. You will never hurt me like that again.’
Cassie felt her leg trembling.
Adrenalin was pumping all over her body.
It felt good to tell Lyle how she felt. It was like a weight was lifted from Cassie’s shoulders.
But Lyle wasn’t going to simply accept Cassie’s words and accept defeat. Giving in to Kane and Cage was one thing, but Lyle clearly had an issue when it came to Littles.
‘Ha! You talk the talk now. But it was very different when you were naked in front of me!’ Lyle said, his voice sounding as twisted and vengeful as ever. ‘Don’t worry, you’ll be hearing from me again. They can’t keep me offline. I’ll move. Find a new city or town. Then one day, just when you’re least expecting it… I’ll be back.’
Cassie gasped.
This was horrific.
Why was he doing this?
‘Enough is enough,’ Cage said. ‘You’re coming with me. Threats and online harassment are crimes in themselves. I’m taking you down to the station.’
Lyle screamed in anger. He had screwed up, and he knew it all too well. A bad situation for Lyle had just got a whole lot worse.
‘You should have listened to my Daddy,’ Cassie said. ‘He told you it doesn’t have to be like this. You can choose to live your life differently.’
