Eventually he softens and flops on his back and my body immediately misses him.

Lying there together, I trail my fingers through his still-damp hair, enjoying the way he leans into my touch. “You know. I think I’m going to sell my houseboat once we find a place. I love it, but it’s not a long-term solution for us...”

“Maybe we keep it as our little hideaway. It’s nostalgic. Where we first touched pee-pees,” he teases, stroking my nipple with his thumb. It cracks me up how much he obsesses over my tits.

“Yeah, it’s a thought, but seriously, B. I want our own place.” Being around Brennan’s niece and nephews has given me baby fever, though. “I’m thinking we need an office. A great master suite. Cool yard. Great kitchen. A lot of en suite bedrooms…maybe even a little garden.”

“A garden?” He lifts his head to look at me.

“I like the idea.” I nuzzle his cheek. “Besides, you’re about to become one of those tech billionaires who buys a dozen properties with infinity pools and wine cellars. Might as well lean into it. Plus, I have a little nest egg to contribute, too.”

Brennan gazes at the ceiling like he’s actually picturing it. “How about settling down in Madison Park, keeping your houseboat and finding a vacation home somewhere quieter? Like the San Juan Islands? We could have it all.”

“Land moguls?” I tickle his scruff.

He shrugs. “Yeah. I’ve been thinking about it a lot lately. I want to make sure we have a home base to raise our family. That is, if you want to have kids with me.”

There’s something in the way he questions it that makes my heart do a little flip. He’s not asking out of insecurity—it’s because he sees the future the same way I do.

“You’re sweet when you get all domestic.” I lean over to kiss him. “Of course we’re going to have kids. Wanna know what I’ve been thinking?”

“Of course.” He shifts to his side, propping himself up on his elbow with his eyes locked on mine.

I take a deep breath. “I’d like this to be my last season as a realtor.”

The words tumble out and I watch his face shift from confusion to realization.

“Wait, what? Are you serious?” He sits up.

I nod slowly, feeling the weight of the decision, but also the lightness of it. “C’mon. I’ve been thinking about it for a while. You know I don’t love real estate. I’m sick of it, actually. Now that it’s officially ours, I’d like to focus on Reuniverse. Full-time. If we’re going to make it what we want it to be, I want to give it my attention.”

He blinks like he’s processing some new piece of information. “Amazing. I mean, I never wanted to pressure you to actually walk away from it.”

“I’ll keep my license.” I sit up across from him cross-legged. “I’ve built my reputation and business for many years and I’m happy to make commissions here and there from select clients. I can do all of that in my sleep, though. With Reuniverse, I’m reenergized. The only tech billionaire I want to spend my time with isyou.”

He stares at me for a second like he’s trying to comprehend the enormity of how our next chapter could play out. “I don’t know what to say other than, wow.”

“Wow?” I quirk a brow.

“Yeah. Wow.” He leans over for a kiss. “It’s all I could hope for. You’re sure? You get off on closing deals.”

“I do love closing deals. I’ll love them more when we launch Reuniverse and I get to close deals to get the technology into everyone’s hands.” I grip his face and press my forehead to his.

His eyes soften and he leans in. “We’ve come a long way.”

We sit, holding on to each other. Basking in the afterglow of our love. Planning our future. Listening to the easy rhythm of the ocean outside the window filling the silence. Brennan and I are on the edge of our own epic life together and I don’t have to stress.

For once, I’m not anxious.

“Okay.” I pull back and stroke his leg. “Enough of this smarmy shit. We need to get ready. Our dinner reservations are coming up and if we’re late, we’re going to miss the last sunset of our vacation.”

He groans dramatically and rolls off the bed as he heads toward the shower. “Fine. Only because of the poke. God, I love poke.”

We shower together quickly and hurry to get ready.

As I slip into my sundress, I catch a glimpse of us in the mirror.

We’re both tanned, relaxed, and our hair a little sun-kissed. We look good together. We’re happy.
