“Perfect.” He handed over the gifts in his hands, then swiftly walked away.

She set the flowers on the table and called Rider.

“It arrived?” he curiously asked, attempting to hide the hope in his voice.

“Yes.”

“Good. The envelope has your tickets for Saturday.”

Gemma grabbed the card hidden in the midst of the flowers. Inside were three tickets and VIP passes.

“The passes get you into the locker rooms to see me after the game.”

“Fancy,” she admonished.

“Only the best for you.”

“Can I open the present?”

“That depends on where you are.”

“In my living room.”

“Have you changed into something comfy yet?” Rider’s voice dropped, sounding rougher than before.

“No…”

“Maybe you should do that, but don’t hang up the phone.”

“If you insist.” Gemma took the gift bag into her room and changed into a loose t-shirt before sitting on the edge of her bed. “Are you home too?”

“Yes, and I have been anxiously waiting for you to get your surprise.”

“Why can I only open it when I’m comfy?”

“You’ll see.”

She sighed, unfastening her leg and rolling off the sleeve.

“Are you ready now?” he asked, impatience threading his voice as she pulled up her shorts.

“Yes, sorry.”

“I didn’t mean to rush you. I’m just excited.”

“So, can I open it now?”

“Please do.” Was that a whimper?

Gemma grabbed the gift, pulling a black silk bag from inside. Suspicion had her heart thundering in her chest. The bag slid open effortlessly, and the item inside fell onto the mattress next to her. A new vibrator.

“And?” Rider questioned breathlessly.

“You got me a toy.”

“Not just any toy. Read the instructions.”

Gemma froze when she saw the instruction booklet. It was one of those toys that could be controlled through an app.
