Leaning his tall, muscular body against the doorframe, Chase cleared his throat, a smile on his lips. Aka turned then, and his emerald-green eyes widened in delight and a bright smile flashed across his face. That smile warmed Chase’s heart.
“Chase,” the boy said. “What ya doing here?”
“Checking up on you,” Chase said.
“Why?” Aka asked. “I already promised not to slack off at work, didn’t I?” He tilted his head to one side. “Oh, I see. You still don’t believe me, don’t you?” Hemade a sour face. “Nobody ever believed a beastkin when he said he’d work diligently. Should have known.”
Chase said, “Who said this nobody doesn’t believe a cute beastkin when he said he’d work diligently?”
Aka raised a brow. “Oh, so you do believe me when I told you I can work diligently? How nice.”
“Is that sarcasm I hear from you, runt?” Chase said.
Aka’s face turned crimson and his eyes flared. “I am not a runt! I’m just… malnourished. You just wait and see. In a few years, I’ll be as tall as you are and just as big.” He flexed his puny arm, folder in hand. “I’m working out.”
“I can train you, if you’re so inclined to bulk up,” Chase said in amusement. “At night and in my bed.”
Aka harrumphed. “Stop flirting, idiot doctor. Now go back and check on your patients.”
Chase changed the subject and asked, “By the way, Aka, did you hear someone calling your name a little while back?”
The boy widened his eyes. “Did you hear it, too? Is it a ghost? Is this place haunted? I knew it! This place is haunted.”
Chase couldn’t help himself and burst out laughing until his stomach hurt. He couldn’t believe the boy was that oblivious to the trouble he had caused a while ago with Shiro. Did he even realize his adopted brother had been in the clinic and was chasing after him?
“What are you laughing so hard for? And just so you know, I’mnotscared of ghosts, okay?” Aka said. “And it’s not funny, so stop laughing already.”
When he managed to calm down, Chase said, “There’s no such things as ghosts.”
“Don’t be silly,” Aka said. “There are ghosts. I know it. I’ve seen it.” He shivered and looked around. “I can’t believe I have to work nights.”
“You requested to work nights,” Chase said as he straightened up and walked toward the boy.
“I know that,” Aka said. “But I have no other choice. I told you I’m busy during the day looking for my bros.” He pointed a folder at Chase. “And you promised to help. It’s been two months now and you haven’t done a damn thing, you liar.”
“Okay,” Chase said, wrapping one powerful arm around the boy’s waist and lifting him off the stepladder.
Aka gasped. “Oy! What are you doing, you idiot doctor? Put me down.”
“Let’s leave work for later,” Chase said. “Now, how about pleasing the boss?”
“Huh?” Aka expressed, struggling and wiggling his body about on Chase’s broad shoulder. “No way. Put me down, Chase.”
Chase slapped the boy on the butt and said, “Stop moving so much or you’ll fall.”
Aka sighed. “I’m not going to suck your cock again. Nope, I won’t.”
“What?” Chase asked as he walked out the door. “Are you upset because I wasn’t paying attention last time?”
“Yeah, like I care,” Aka said. “But who gets his cock sucked while talking to a friend on the phone?”
Chase chuckled. “So you are upset. Then how about I’ll suck your cute cock instead this time?”
Aka started struggling again. “No way, you idiot. I’ll die if you suck my cock again.”
“What? But your cum tastes so great.” They were inside his office now, and Chase put the boy down on the sofa. Aka chose that moment to escape by scrambling up, but before he could get off the sofa completely, Chase already had his powerful arm around the boy’s waist and was pulling him onto his lap.
“Dr. Chase,” Aka said. “You big idiot! Why do you always do this to me?”
