Lan rolled his eyes. He said, “You’re a nuisance when you’re drunk, Master Nolan.” He got up from his seat and walked over to the man. He took Nolan by the hand. “Let’s go to the bathroom. Then I’ll make you some tea or something.”

Nolan wrapped his arms around the boy and leaned heavily on him for support. He said, “Lan, you’re a godsend.”

“Yes, I am,” Lan said. “So be thankful.”

Nolan

It was well past noon by the time Nolan felt better, his head cleared and his stomach settled. Ah, fuck, he shouldn’t have drunk so much last night, but of course, he hadn’t been able to help himself. He had wanted to stay because Lan wasn’t coming home with him. He’d feel lonely as fuck if Lan wasn’t with him, but there was no way he’d reveal that fact to anyone. Besides, he hadn’t had a good night drinking and just hanging out with Adam and Chase for a while, a good six months in fact, since Adam had left the Sullivan Mansion, and that had only urged him to enjoy the wine even more.

He sighed and was about to get up when he heard the door opening, followed by a soft voice asking, “Master Nolan, are you awake?”

Lan, huh? Coming to check on him. How cute.

“Yeah, I’m awake,” he said.

“Are you feeling better?”

“Yeah, I’m feeling better,” he replied.

The boy came into the room and sat on the side of thebed then. He asked, “You want to shower or something? You stink of alcohol.”

The brat. Blunt as always.

He sighed. “Yeah, I’ll shower.” He sat up and ruffled the boy’s hair. “What have you guys been up to while I was sleeping off my hangover?”

“Stuff,” Lan said.

“Stuff, eh?” he repeated as he got off the bed.

Lan asked, “Master Nolan? Do you know what an omega is?”

Nolan turned to look at him. “Why do you ask?”

“No reason,” the boy said. “I just heard that word and thought you might know.” He smiled, and it made Nolan’s heart skip. Lan continued. “You know a shitload of things, like a sage or something, so I thought…”

Trust that rascal to stroke his ego just so he could get what he wanted. Stroking his ego was good, but stroking his cock would be much more desirable, Nolan thought.

“Omegas,” he said as he headed over to the en suite. “They’re in old beastkin texts. They’re a being opposite to the alphas. They have a different kind of life essence.”

“Oh,” Lan said. “I see. So, they have life essence, too, huh?”

Retrieving a spare toothbrush and toothpaste provided by the ever so prepared Adam, Nolan started brushing his teeth, while listening to Lan humming a silly tune, which made him smile. When he was done, he headed over to the shower and turned it on. Testing the water as it sprinkled on his hand, he said, continuing with the omega subject, “They’re mere legend, Lan. They don’t exist, at least there’s no concrete evidence of it.”

Lan stopped the humming and then said, “But what if they’re like alphas? Alphas are meant to be merely urban legend, but they do exist for real. I mean, you, Master Adam, and Dr. Chase, not to mention Luka Valentino and Sean Montgomery and their right- and left-hand men, are all alphas.”

Nolan took off his clothes as he said, “True, but like I said, I’ll put an approval stamp ofit’s realon it when I see one.” Stark naked, he went into the shower.

In the bedroom, Lan made himself comfortable on the bed, lying on his stomach. He grabbed the pillow Nolan had slept on and hugged it, inhaling the scent—a mixture of Nolan and alcohol. He didn’t like the alcohol stink much, but Nolan’s smell always made him smile. He said, “I think it’s real.”

Busy washing himself, his hair and body full of bubbles and the shower cubicle now filled with the aroma of spring flowers, Nolan said, “Even if they are real, and that’s a big if, they’d be rare, even rarer than the alphas and they’d be hard to find.”

“True,” Lan said. He was quiet for a moment and then continued. “Do you think they look different?”

Rinsing himself, with the bubbles sliding down his body, Nolan said, “The texts didn’t say specifically with details.”

Lan tilted his head to one side. “In my opinion, since they’re beastkin, I think they’ll have beastkin appearances, and since you said they’re opposite of alphas, wouldn’t it be the case if they, I don’t know, have a total opposite look to the alphas? Alphas are always tall and strong and have that striking look, you know? Theystand out like a mile away and ooze charm and charisma and all that stuff, the stuff the average beastkin, and more so human men, are super jealous of, so wouldn’t omega be like that, too, but in an opposite way? If you think about it, the alphas are like the yang energy, the light, the sun, the hard and strong, the masculine counterpart, thealpha, wouldn’t it be true if the omegas are like the yin energy, the dark, the night, the moon, the soft and gentle, the feminine counterpart, theomega?”
