Yes, he noticed that, too. His life essence was practically pulsating hot about him. Fuck, was this normal, too?
“I remember you in this form,” Shiro said softly, gazing at him with a beautiful smile on his lips.
Adam widened his eyes. “You remember me in this form?”
“Mm-hmm.” The boy nodded. “It just kind of flashed into my mind, you in this form, and then you kissed me… Or rather, you saved my life.”
“I didn’t know you saw me looking like this that night,” Adam said. “I thought…”
No, wait. That was right. Shiro was conscious for a short while when he had transferred his life essence to the boy, so of course, he would have seen him in this form.
“Did you ever plan on telling me you saved my life by sacrificing your own life essence?” Shiro asked.
Adam chuckled. “Am I being interrogated now?”
Shiro said, “No, but I want to know, Adam.”
The man shrugged. “I didn’t see any need to.”
“Stupid,” the boy said. “If you don’t tell me, then how will I know how nice and caring you are toward me?”
Adam chuckled. “Then who’s the stupid one for not getting it after all that I’ve done for you? I thought actions speak louder than words?”
Shiro blushed, and the golden glow about him grew brighter. Fuck, Adam thought, the boy was so cute. Then because he couldn’t help it, he kissed the boy on the lips. When he moved back, Shiro said, “I’m not stupid. I know you care about me. It’s just this is different. It’s your life essence we’re talking about.”
“And how do you know about life essence?” Adam asked.
“Lan,” Shiro said. “He knows lots of stuff about beastkin that I don’t. He’s very helpful.”
Yes, Lan was indeed very helpful. But of course, most of the things Lan knew were from Nolan.
Shiro was quiet for a moment, and then he licked his lips, looking rather nervous. He said, “Adam, I have something to tell you.”
Adam raised a brow. “Hmm?”
“I thought since we’re like going this far, I’d have to tell you,” he said.
“This far?” Adam queried.
The boy looked at him long and hard and then stammered, “We’ve had sex and stuff. So, that means…”
“That means?”
“You know what I mean,” Shiro said. “Aren’t we like dating or something? Right?” He looked frightened, his eyes large, and the glow dimmed a little.
Adam couldn’t help himself and burst out laughing. He pinched the boy’s cheek and then said, “Yes, we’re dating. Are you okay dating a mafia boss?”
Shiro shook his head. “I’m dating Adam Sullivan, and whether Adam Sullivan is a normal man working a normal job or a mafia boss, it doesn’t matter.”
Adam felt his heart aching with love. Fuck, this kid.
He cupped the boy’s face and then planted his lips on him again, kissing him deeply and passionately. He heard the boy groan softly, which pleased him. He was about to go all out and plunge his tongue into the boy’s mouth when Shiro pushed his palm against his chest and pulled back, which disappointed Adam.
Face flushing, Shiro said, “I was going to tell you something important.”
“Ah, yes,” Adam said. “Go ahead then, and then we can go for round two.”
Shiro widened his eyes. “Excuse me? Round two?”
