“Did you think we were ugly, baby?” Jasper smiles.
“I didn’t really think one way or another,” I admit. “I just know that you’re mine. That’s all I need to know.”
“All yours, sweetheart,” Jaxon smiles. “Well then, come on, Mom. We came to get stuff for homemade pizza. Care to join us?”
“Oh, I don’t want to intrude,” Mom says. “I’ll just meet up with you tomorrow.”
“No intrusion,” Jasper says. “Join us.”
“No sense in arguing, Mommy,” I sigh. “They won’t let you win. Being bossy is kind of their thing.”
“Well, then, how can I say no. Lead the way, boys.”
The men grab the bags and lead us out.
“How in the world am I going to be able to tell them apart,” Mom asks. “Ray, these two are identical in every way.”
“So I’ve heard,” I smile. “Jaxon, Blaze, is usually smiling and joking about something, and Jasper, Steel, always looks like he’s in control.”
“Looks like?” Jasper teases.
“And for some odd reason,” I say, ignoring the man. “Jaxon likes to play with a lighter.”
“Do you smoke, Blaze?” Mom asks.
“Nope,” he smiles. “Just like fire.”
The fire station at the club pops into my head and from the smirk on both of their faces, they know exactly what I’m thinking.
“Never happening,” I say, causing them both to laugh.
“Goodness, something just passed between the three of you that has me melting,” Mom laughs. “Let’s go, Ray. I want that pizza.”
Chapter Seventeen
Steel
“Iwasn’t going to ask, but did you guys ever figure out why Becca leaked those videos?” Raven asks. It’s been several days since her mom arrived. We asked her to stay with us, but she insisted that she stay at Raven’s apartment instead.
The apartment that we keep talking Raven out of going back to. I want her here with us for the rest of our lives.
“It was her petty way of getting back at us for not letting her become a member,” Blaze answers. “Don’t worry, she won’t do anything like that again.”
“Why?” Raven asks. “Is she…you know…alive?”
I grin at her hesitation.
“Yeah, baby,” I answer, tucking her closer against my side. “Once King was finished questioning her, he turned her into the police.”
“Oh. Well, that’s good.”
Blaze’s phone rings, effectively ending the conversation.
“Yeah,” he answers, placing it on speaker.
“Get to Taylor’s house right now.”
Ghost.
