The same look of fear that had crossed her mother’s face flitted over hers, making my gut ache with an unfamiliar feeling.

Forcing a smile for her, I shook my head, “No, darlin’, there’s nothing going on. I’m just not comfortable that you’ll be here by yourself.”

“Oh,” surprise flitted over her face, then she smiled sweetly, “I can see if I can go and stay over at Opal’s if it would make you feel better.”

“Opal Tin?” I questioned.

“Yes,” she nodded. “She’s a little younger than me but super smart, so we share a few classes and we’re always thrown together at club functions.”

“Call her, darlin’; I’ll get a prospect to come and get you and take you over to theirs,” I ordered, taking my phone out of my pocket, stilling when I noticed the strange look Stacey was giving me. But when she smiled, I took it to mean that she was okay and went about calling a prospect to come with a cage.

Twenty minutes later, we watched as the taillights from the vehicle carrying Rosie faded away.

“Thank you,” Stacey said softly, leaning her head against my shoulder.

“For what, baby?”

“For looking out for my girl when you didn’t have to.”

Turning her toward me, I gripped her shoulders, ducking down to get a look at her eyes, holding her gaze so that she could see I was serious, “She’s yours, Stacey, and you’re going to be mine; that means she’s ours. I’ll always look out for her. Kyle is different because he’s a man now and doesn’t need me to, but if he did, I’d be there for him too.”

Tears welled in her eyes at my words. Then just when I was wondering if I’d fucked up, she sniffed slightly before wiping under her eyes. Stacey took a deep breath and stood straight, smiling softly as she said, “No more being sweet, Maestro. I don’t feel like crying, and I recall you telling me we were going to have a good time tonight.”

Returning her smile, I handed her the helmet I’d bought for her and helped her into her leather jacket. I couldn’t wait until she wore one that had my name on it.

Getting on my sled, I started it up, holding my hand out to steady her as she got on behind me and wrapped her arms tight around my waist with a small squeeze.

“Ready, honey.”

‘Fuck me,’if those words didn’t do something to me as they settled deep in my soul. It had been a long time coming, but now that I had her on the back of my sled, I’d make damn sure she’d never want to leave it.

STACEY

As we pulled out and away from my home, my arms wrapped around Maestro’s waist; I was still trying to come to terms with the fact that I was actually here on the back of his sled.

I’d been an Old Lady long enough to know what it means when a man of the club puts you on the back of their sled. In all the years I’d known Maestro, the only other females that had been on the back of his had been his sister Lizzie and his nieces.

I had to wonder, was I making a mistake trusting a man again so soon? I’d thought a lot about this ever since he’d told me we were going out tonight. I hoped not, and after the way he’d worried about Rosie being alone, I had a feeling that trusting this man might be the best thing to ever happen to me.

Deciding that for now I’d just enjoy the ride and stop worrying about things that I couldn’t change, I rested my head against his back, closed my eyes, and relaxed into him, enjoying the vibration of his bike between my thighs. I’d forgotten how much I loved riding and being on the back of a bike.

Before long, we were pulling into the parking lot of the bar the MC owned and ran. I was a little disappointed that it hadn’t taken us long to get here.

Maestro tapped my thigh and held out his hand for me to take, supporting me as I got off his ride. Once I was standing, he walked the bike into its space.

Taking off my helmet, I handed it to him. Removing the band from the bottom of my braid that I’d put my hair in to stop it from getting tangled in the wind, I slowly undid it. Before running my fingers through it, bending over, I shook it out to fluff it up a little before standing back up and throwing the length back over my shoulders to settle against my back with some curling around my cheeks. It was something I’d always done over the years and never thought anything of it.

It was the growl that brought my attention to the man who’d got off his bike and was prowling towards me with heated and hungry eyes.

“Fucking love your hair, Stace. Never cut it, baby,” he rumbled, running his fingers through the long strands before pushing the strands from my cheeks. Bending, he whispered in my ear, “Can’t wait to feel it trailing over my body as you ride me or wrapping my hand in it while I fuck you from behind. I’m going to live out every fantasy I’ve ever had about you. And, baby, I have twenty years of fantasies stored up, all with you at the centre of them.”

Whimpering low in my throat at the images his words evoked in my head. Squeezing my thighs together to ease the ache that pulsed through me,‘Oh Jesus, this man is going to be the death of me,’I thought before his mouth was on mine and all coherent thoughts left me.

It took for Cash and Lizzie riding up to remind us where we were and breaking us from the sexual haze that seemed to have enveloped us ever since he’d made his move in the diner this afternoon.

I wasn’t sure if my panties could take much more of what he was dishing out. I’d never felt like this. Ever! Not even when Grudgeand I’d first got together. It made me wonder what I’d been missing all my life.

“Hey, brother, maybe you should skip the bar and just head on back to the clubhouse,” Cash chuckled as he slapped Maestro’s shoulder on the way past, with Lizzie, as always, under his arm.
