Page 2 of One Drink
“You’re the one who took the blankets.” I grabbed a pillow from behind me and placed it over my groin. “Is that better?” The words came out a little too harsh. My mind was reeling over the fact that she was freaking out.
“How the hell did we end up in bed together?”
“Seriously?” I met her glare. “You weren’t that drunk.”
“I can’t believe you.” She paced back and forth refusing to meet my stare. Her anger faded and the color drained from her face. “I think I’m going to be sick. I had to be wasted. I never would ha ...” She paused, her eyes widened, and she dropped to the edge of the bed.
“Coming back to you?”
She covered her face with her hands. “Fuck, fuck, fuck.”
“Yeah, we did a lot of that.” I regretted it as soon as the words came out, but now I was fighting my own anger. We made love twice last night, and both times were instigated by her.
“Oh my God, I begged you.” Her voice was muffled in her hands.
“You did.” I was ready to go home after walking her to her door to make sure she made it safely inside her apartment. I mean, yes, I desperately wanted her. Our kisses in the bar had been hot and had me all worked up, but I didn’t want my first time with Stephanie to be tainted by alcohol.
“And I ...” She lifted her eyes to mine, her anger replaced with embarrassment. “And you ...”
“Yes.”
I lost my will to resist her pleas when she pulled me inside and dropped to her knees and sucked my cock. Had I not been impaired myself, I would have had the strength to resist her, but when she pulled me inside her apartment and pinned me against the back of the door, my will to stop her faltered. She had my pants down and her lips wrapped around my cock so fast, by the time my mind caught up with my erection, I was powerless to stop her. And truthfully, I didn’t want to stop her.
“Jake, I’m so sorry.” Her shoulders slumped and she pulled the covers she wrapped around her over her face. I scooted closer to her and took her hand in mine.
“Hey, look at me.” Reluctantly, she dropped the covers and, while she turned her face toward me, she didn’t make eye contact. I pressed my fingers under her chin and lifted her eyes to mine. The sadness and embarrassment in her expression was gut-wrenching. “Don’t be. I’m not.”
“What are you saying?” Her words were barely audible. So innocent and laced with longing. I couldn’t resist brushing my lips against hers. She sucked in a breath, but didn’t pull away.
“I’m saying, I’m glad last night happened.” I whispered against her lips before I covered her mouth with mine. My lips turned up in a slight smile when she kissed me back, but my joy was short lived. She stiffened and pushed me away.
“Jake, we can’t.” She stood, putting as much distance between us as she could in her small bedroom. “I think you should leave.”
“Steph, please don’t do this.” I would’ve run to her side, but I had no clothes on, and she took all the blankets. I was trapped to the bed with nothing more than a pillow hiding my still hard cock.
“Look, we were both drunk, and I’m sure once we’ve both had time to reflect on it, we’ll realize it was a mistake.”
“I’ll give you the time to think, but I don’t need it.” No longer caring if she saw the effect she had on me, I stood and started to dress. Her eyes widened when she caught sight of my erection. I held my eyes on hers and didn’t speak again until I was fully dressed. “But don’t kid yourself, we’ve danced around this for over ten years.” I stepped close to her and looked down in her eyes. She could try to hide it all she wanted, but her true feelings were written all over her face. Heat and desire pushed away her embarrassment, and I couldn’t help but smile. “I’ve wanted this since the day you walked into my life. When I think about last night, I’ll never think it was a mistake. The only mistake I’ve made was taking this long to tell you how I felt.”
I didn’t wait for her to respond. I turned and left.
Last night was anything but a mistake and hopefully over the weekend she’d realize how great we were together. Now that we took this step, I didn’t want to give up on her and I’d do everything in my power to prove to her that nothing between us could ever be a mistake.
