“What do you think? She’s been missing for three days now, and I can’t do anything about it!” I yell back at him. “Of course, I’m still ‘fuckey’!”

He grimaces and turns away from me, not remarking on my shittyattitude.

I'm going to go stir crazy sitting in this house, with nothing to do and nowhere to go. I could burn the world down just to get to her, and I haven't even spoken to her yet!

That's it. I'm done.I'm going to the house, knocking, and seeing if I can't spot her from the doorway.

“Fuck it! I'll be back,” I tell him, grabbing my stuff off the desk and walking away.

“Don't do anything stupid! I'm not bailing you out! Again!”

It’s almost 9 o’clock at night, it started to snow about twenty minutes ago, and I’m driving recklessly. And if I find out that he touched her, I will kill him. There is no doubt about it.

I pull onto the road and instantly get that sickening feeling. Something’s not right. I don’t know what it really is, but it’s not normal. Deciding to park down the street, so I don’t cause any more issues than there obviously is, I pull into an abandoned driveway and hop out quickly.

Walking halfway down the road, and forgetting my mask, I run back and grab it. Who knows what I will have to do in the next few minutes, and I don’t even know what I’m going to say.

I knock on the door rather loudly, and pull my hood up over my head. Maybe if I act like I’m freezing and my car broke down, I can get him to come outside.

“Hello?” Her father greets after opening the front door. “How can I help you?”

“Uh– Hi. My c-car broke d-down, and I w-was wondering if I–I could use your p-phone, p-p-please,” I fake stutter.

“Oh, sure. Just stay right here, and I’ll be right back. Any man of God would help someone in need.” He leaves the door open, and I take that as my chance to look around the hoard of trash.

Oh, Dynah… I can’t believe you lived in this.

I finally catch a glimpse of her black hair and take a breath of relief. She’s alive.

“Here ya go,” he tells me, handing me his broken-screened phone.

“Uhm, thanks,” I tell him, stepping away from the front door and pretending to dial a random number.

Think, think, think. What are you going to do, Elliot? How are we going to get her outside?

I walk back towards the door, and realize that her Father has walked away.

“Uhm, hello?” I yell into the doorway.

“Yeah, yeah! I’m in the kitchen. Just leave it on the table if you’re done!” He replies.

I take this as my now-or-never chance.

“Dynah,” I whisper, trying to get her attention. She won’t be able to see my face, but hopefully she will hear me. “Dynah!” I whisper shout.

She whips her head toward the kitchen, checking to see where he is, before looking toward me.

Anger wraps around my body, my hands clench at their sides, and I swear my heart skips a beat. Her face is bruised, one eye swollen shut, and her lip must have been bleeding for a while since the blood stain has run down her chin. I don’t allow her to see my face, hiding within the shadow of the dark, but it doesn’t matter who I am to her at this moment. I wouldn’t even care if she could see me unmasked.

“Run.”

Without hesitation, she gets up as fast as she can and does.

She sprints past me at the door, and I grab the handle closing it quickly.

“Run towards the woods, my Little Raven! Run!”
