“I should go check on her.” I start to turn but Robert grabs my arm.

“No, you shouldn’t. If anyone should, it’s me, but knowing Jenna, she needs to be alone right now.”

I look back at her closed door with longing. “I hate seeing her so upset.”Maybe she did really love him and I just ruined it all?

“Don’t worry, she’ll be okay. Even though I liked Jax, I think the relationship was going to run its course whether you were in the picture or not,” he tells me with a sly grin. We walk toward her door and exit her apartment.

“Why do you say that?” I question while we walk the hallway toward the elevators, intrigued to hear his opinion.

“Jenna was never willing to meet Jax halfway on things and she certainly wasn’t going to move to Canada. He has a daughter there and he didn’t want to live here full-time. It was just a matter of time before one of them broke it off. Your arrival just sped up the process.”

A slow, mischievous smile spreads across my face because now there’s nothing standing in my way from pursuing Jenna.

Robert sees my grin and laughs. “Slow down, Romeo. She’s not just going to fall at your feet. She’s going to need some time before you start going all alpha male on her.”

The elevator doors open, and we get in. “I’ll give her all the time she needs because she’s eventually going to be mine.”
