“I think I can handle this now.” Her arms loop around my neck despite the faster beat of the country song. I won’t be the one to tell her to step back. I gather her in my arms, keeping her close, moving as one.

“I know you can.” I lean in and whisper. I’ve been wanting her like this all night.

“Do you think we’ll make the front page on The MC Scoop tomorrow?” She giggles.

“With a huge headline, too. Maybe even a picture of us in this very moment,” I joke though it’s likely to happen.

“Oh well,” she shrugs.

“You don’t mind?” I tilt my head.

“What are we going to do about it? Everyone in town knows that blog exists. We’ve accepted it as part of Mason Creek. We’re not the first or last to fall victim to it. At least now, they’ll tell the truth. We’re not hiding it, either.”

“You’re right.” I smile, brushing her cheek with my fingertips. “I’m definitely not hiding it.”

“You think they’ll care at work?” She frowns, tucking her bottom lip between her teeth.

“Nah. Besides, it’s not like we’re doing anything while we’re there.”

“That’s what I thought.” She nods, looking over my shoulder and laughing.

“What?” I lean back to look down at her face.

“Nothing,” she shakes her head. “Your sister and Hallie are being silly.”

Laughing, I turn us around so I can see them. They try to stop, but I catch them giving thumbs up and nodding.

“They’re ridiculous,” I chuckle.

“I told you.”

When the next song is even faster, I step back, holding her hand and spinning her around. Madelyn laughs, dancing to the beat. Her body shakes and shimmies, giving me the perfect view of her ass in those jeans. Her hair swishes around her face. I pull her close, moving my hips with hers. We laugh and exchange heated glances.

Ready for another drink, we head to the bar and order two more beers before joining our friends. Wilder rubs his hand over Madelyn’s head, and she slaps it away, patting her hair down.

“You better treat her right.” He points his beer at me. What is it with the James brothers and using beer bottles as a threatening tool?

“I will,” I nod with confidence. Brayden chuckles and I glare at him.

“Kinda nice to see you on the receiving end of this.” He shakes his head.

“You know this is different,” I lift a brow.

“It is, but it still amuses the hell out of me. Let’s dance.” He takes Joy’s hand and leads her to the dance floor.

Cole and Joey joined at some point, and they smile at us.

“So the rumors are true,” Cole comments. “I was wondering. You know Madelyn is like our little sister, too,” he speaks on behalf of Grady and, I assume, Jase, too.

“Oh my goodness. It’s like having five brothers instead of two.” Madelyn throws her hands in the air. “Listen, Canaan is a good guy, and if he does anything disrespectful, you all know I can beat his ass myself.”

I choke-laugh at her words and stare at her with wide eyes.

“We did teach you right,” Wilder comments. “Self-defense, load and shoot a gun, how to dig a deep grave…I mean hole.” He smirks.

“That’s my cousin,” Hallie comes to my defense, slapping Wilder’s chest.

“That’s my little sister,” his brows lift.
