Sully grins at me. He caught on. He agrees, “I think that would be cool. Todd, what do you think?”
Todd is still staring at Kandace. It is like he is in a trance of some sort.
Sully asks, “Todd, thoughts?”
Todd shakes his head and answers, “Yeah, let’s do that.”
My attention goes toward Sully, I ask, “See you in about an hour?”
“We’ll be there,” he answers. Todd and he walks away.
Kandace looks at me and questions, “What are you thinking?”
I smile, “I’m thinking Todd and you need to get over your trance for each other. We can talk on the walk home. Let’s get going.”
Silently, we walk out of the bar and down the street to our home.
Kandace sighs, “You know this can’t happen.”
I laugh, “Why not? Sully and I are playing around.”
“This isn’t playing around.”
I stop and lay my hand on her shoulder and say, “Look, you have not been the same since you spent that one night with him. He isn’t the same. I don’t think you have anything to worry about. You’re not a student of his. You’re not even in the same department or even close to the same part of campus. I think it’s time for you to just see what happens.”
“You think so?”
“My friend, I know so. Let’s have some fun tonight.”
“Are you going to be nice to Professor James and let him know you?”
I roll my eyes and say, “Outside of the classroom, he is Sully. And I guess I’ll let him know one thing about me.”
She laughs at me. We continue to walk to our place. I have to say this will be an interesting night. For the both of us. We are going to hang out, which means interaction. Here goes nothing.
Sullivan
She caught me off guard for sure. I wasn’t expecting her to be so social, let alone invite us over to hang out. It’s not like we can hang out at the bar. I can only imagine another student or a colleague seeing us sitting and talking together. Being that she invited both Todd and I, this might be more than just fucking and being done. We’ll see how it goes.
Todd and I arrive at their townhouse. Part of me is on edge. I don’t know what to expect going into their house. I do know I am glad Todd gets an opportunity to be with the woman who is clouding his mind.
Then, it hits me. Lyla invited us for Kandace and Todd. It has nothing to do with me. I am just here as something for her to do. Oh, well.
I knock on the door. The door slowly creeks open and Lyla pops her head out and smiles. She greets, “Come on in.”
She leads us into the living area. Kandace is sitting on the loveseat drinking something that looks stiff. She looks up and smiles at Todd.
Lyla states, “Go ahead and have a seat. I’ll get something for you to drink. I’m assuming beer is okay with you all?”
Todd is quiet but is able to muster up a nod.
I comment, “Let me help you out.”
Lyla looks at me confused but says, “Okay!”
I follow her to the kitchen, noticing their table is still scattered with documents and their laptops. Typical college students. I watch Lyla as she opens the refrigerator door. Her long brown waves fall in front of her face as she leans into the refrigerator. Her jeans hug each and every one of her natural curves. I take a deep breath, mesmerized by her beauty. I muffle, “Damn, you’re beautiful.”
She turns around and asks, “What did you say?”
