“But I’m so comfortable,” he said, nuzzling her neck.

“Hey, hey now!”Breckin walked up to the hammock and frowned.“Don’t be getting frisky on my hammock. As soon as I don’t have a bowling ball in my stomach I plan on reclaiming what is mine.”

“We’ll move if you want in it, Breckin,” Brant said.

Breckin snorted.“Yeah, right,” she said, patting her large belly.“If I got in that thing I’d never be able to get up.This baby needs to come outnow.I am completely miserable.”

One short month ago, the only way CC could tell her friend was pregnant was the glowing aura that followed her everywhere. Now, a person couldn’thelpbut notice she was pregnant. It seemed as if Breckin’s belly exploded overnight.“You still have two months to go, Breckin. It will be here before you know it.Just hold on.”

“Hold on?Youtry carrying this brick of a baby and tell me to hold on.I hope it’s a boy.I know he or she is probably going to come out looking like a man child, anyway.”

CC laughed.“That’s not true.”She bit her tongue before she slipped and gave away the gender.“Your baby doesn’t have any choice but to be beautiful.”

“But have youseenhis or her daddy? He’s a giant.I’m carrying a giant’s baby. They’ll have to cut me open from boobs to hoo-hah to get him or her out!”

“Don’t be saying anything about cutting up my favorite parts of your body.I’d hurt a person.”Griff walked up behind Breckin and wrapped his arms around her, his hands coming to rest on her stomach.“Ain’t that right, kid?”

Breckin rolled her eyes.“Seriously? You don’t have to talk to my belly every minute of the day.”

“Of course I do.How else will I be able to compete with their momma’s voice?I want to be the favorite parent.”

“You’ll obviously be the favorite parent,” Breckin huffed.

“Why do you say that?”

“Because you’re a total pushover.”

Griffin spun Breckin around to face him and kissed her forehead.“Nothing wrong with being a pushover for the woman I love.”He leaned down until he was eye level with Breckin’s belly.“Just remember, kid.Daddy is the favorite.”

CC smiled when Brant chuckled. Her friends really were adorable.“Hey, guys!”Wyatt walked out of the house holding a large tray.“Can I interest anyone in a beer or margarita?”

Breckin moaned.“Why are you doing this to me?That is cruel and unusual punishment!”

“Relax, Breck.I made you an alcohol free strawberry daiquiri.Tastes just like a normal one.”

“Without the punch,” Breckin muttered.Nevertheless, CC’s friend waddled to the table where her drink was waiting.

“Don’t worry about her,” Griff said.“It’s the pregnancy hormones talking.”

“I heard that!”Breckin called.

“You better go suck up some, Griff,” CC said with a smile.“Or else you might be sleeping on the couch tonight.”

“No joke.I never know what Breckin I’m going to get.It might be crying Breckin, cleaning Breckin, happy Breckin, or mad-at-me-for-no-reason Breckin.”

“I heard that, too!”she yelled.

“Shit,” Griff breathed.“I better go suck up some more.”

“Do you want a drink?”Brant asked.“I can get up and get you one.”

CC snuggled into his chest.“I can get one later.Right now, I’m pretty comfy.”

“Thank the lord.I was going to get you one if you asked, but Ireallydidn’t want to move.”

She laughed and started to respond but before she could say anything, the first set of fireworks burst into the sky.

“Wow,” Brant said.“That was big.”
