“Ow!”she whispered.
Brant turned around in the chair and looked at her.“What happened?”
“You startled me when you asked about the shop and it seems I’ve cut my finger.”
Brant took her hand in his.“It looks like you did more than cut it.This looks like a pretty deep slice.”
CC turned her head. She hated the sight of blood.
“What’s wrong?”
“Me and the sight of blood do not mesh well,” she whispered, feeling her stomach rolling.“Let me just wrap it in a towel.I’ll be fine.”
“I don’t think wrapping it in a towel is going to help.It looks like you need stitches.”
CC’s eyes widened.“Stitches?I can’t getstitches!”
“Why not?”
“Well, for one thing, I imagine they hurt. For another thing, what am I supposed to do if I get stitches in my finger?I won’t be able to work!”
“You don’t know that for sure.”
CC groaned.This couldn’t be happening.
“We need to get you to the clinic so I can look at it.Where are your towels so I can wrap it up?”
“Are you sure you need to look at it?”she asked, trying to keep the fear out of her voice.
“Freckles, you’re dripping blood all over the floor.Yes, I need to look at it.”
CC rolled her eyes.Guess she was making a trip to the clinic.
