Maybe he needed to get laid too.

His assistant shrank into herself, as if she knew he wouldn’t like the answer. “His wife is in labor.”

Preston’s jaw clenched. He wasn’t the handsomest of men, but there was something very sexy about him. He had this look. I could just tell he knew how to put it down in the bedroom.

Maybe we could help each other out…

“Fuck,” Preston yelled and stomped back into his office, and I shook away any thoughts of sleeping with him.

Eh. I wasn’t really attracted to the man, and I refused to jeopardize everything I’d worked so hard for.

Shaking my head at myself, I continued on to the elevator. It was empty when I got on, but just as the metal doors were starting to close, a hand pushed between them, and they opened once again.

“How was your date last night?”

Two women stepped on. One of them was a receptionist named Mara, and the other worked in Records.

When they saw me, the Records clerk, Gina, said, “I’ll tell you later.”

I pulled my mobile out of my purse. “Don’t mind me,” I told them. “I’ll just be on my phone, checking emails.”

Gina studied me for a moment and shrugged before turning her attention back to Mara. “It was okay.”

Even though I tried to concentrate on my cell, my curiosity was too strong. I peeked at them out of the corner of my eye.

Gina smiled devilishly.

“‘It was okay’? That grin on your face tells me it was more than okay,” Mara said. “You two went at it all night, and that’s why you need a second coffee so early this morning.”

Gina grabbed Mara’s arm and bent her knees as if she were sinking. “It wassogood. I don’t even know how many times we fucked.” Her eyes shot to me and back to Mara. “I mean, had sex,” she said as if she had to clean her language up for me.

I pretended like I hadn’t really heard them, even as I was hanging on to every word that was said.

Mara sighed. “I want that.” She groaned. “It’s been too long for me.”

The elevator stopped at a floor, and a group of five men got on. Gina and Mara scooted back toward me as the men barely acknowledged the three of us.

The guys were talking loudly, but I still managed to hear Gina say to Mara, “You know, if you need a dick appointment, I can hook you up with some guys whoknowwhat they are doing.”

“I am very intrigued. Are these guys sex workers?”

“No. Just guys who are good in bed. They would do it for free.”

“Bless them,” Mara said sarcastically.

Gina laughed. “I know. As if they wouldn’t be getting something out of it.”

“Well, even as curious as I am, I actually have a date on Saturday.”

“Oh.” Gina pushed her hip into Mara. “Good for you.”

“Fingers crossed that it will be good for me.”

The two women laughed, and the elevator reached the ground floor.

The men exited first, and then Gina and Mara followed.

“Lady, are you coming out?” A man with a briefcase stared at me with his hand up.
