Page 92 of The Sacrifice

Lord, what will Jackson say? We’d have two children under two. Holy crap. If we got pregnant from the beginning, it’s possible that Hadley will have just turned one when a baby is born. He’s going to freak out. “What if he gets mad?”

“He’s not going to get mad.” She glares in frustration. “Thank God you’re with Jackson because you’re a nervous bundle of energy. He adores Hadley. He took to her the second he found out she existed–no questions asked. And that was with a woman he had no feelings for. He loves you. He’s going to be excited.”

I rub my hands together. “You’re right.” I want her to be right. I would love to have a baby with Jackson. Hadley drops the block and frowns as it tumbles out of reach.

Moments later, she lowers herself to the ground and reaches for the block. As she struggles to grab it, I bend down and hand it to her. “Here you go, baby.” Her eyes twinkle as she babbles and takes it from me.

A baby. Yes. I want a baby with Jackson.

“I’ll watch Hadley.”

“What for?”

“Bathroom. Bottom cabinet. Right-hand side. Let’s find out if we’re having a baby.”

Ten Minutes Later

I stare in awe at the positive pregnancy test. How is that even possible?Oh, my God, my cheeks hurt. It’s a miracle. Wow. This is… so freaking amazing.

I twist the doorknob and run smack into Jackson’s chest.

“Where’s the fire?” His eyes twinkle as he wraps his arms around me. “Jade sent me to find you. She said she needed you to grab something from the bathroom, and you’d know what that meant. She was cryptic. Are they storing sex toys in there that we need to try?”

“No.” I fist the stick and throw my arms around his neck. “It’s something even better.”

His eyebrows arch. “Something better than sex? If it’s something better than sex, then I’m not doing it right.”

“No. You are definitely doing it right.” I arch into his body, relishing the semi-hardness of his cock. Just being near me does this to him. That’s perfection. “I haven’t had a period since I was in New York.”

Worry settles over his face. “I should have realized that, but I was too busy worrying about my needs.” He tucks a strand of hair behind my ear. “Are you okay? Do you need to go to the doctor and get checked out?”

I bite my bottom lip, pull back, and wave the stick at him. “We’re having a baby.”

“You’re kidding?” He grabs my hand and looks at the stick. His eyes widen when he catches the positive sign. It’s one of the simple ones. It’s either pregnant or not pregnant. And we’re pregnant.

“No, I’m not kidding. I was talking to Jade about something, and it hit me out of nowhere. The week before I moved, I was on my period, and since then, nothing. The box of tampons is still sealed in the cabinet.”

He cups my cheeks. “Are you okay? Did the doctor think there was any risk to you or a baby if you did get pregnant?”

“No. He said it would take a miracle to conceive naturally.” I purse my lips together and wait for it. He doesn’t disappoint.

He winks. “You’re welcome.”

“You’re ridiculous.”

“No.” He kisses my lips, giving me the softest of caresses. “I’m the dream maker.”

“Please.” I giggle as he sweeps me off my feet. But he’s not wrong. He does make all my dreams come true.

“I’ll have you begging please, when we get home.” This time when his mouth covers mine, he doesn’t stop until my toes curl and my clit twists. “If we make it that far.” The low vibration of his voice against my lips sends shivers along my spine.

I lace my fingers through his hair. “Are you okay with this? We’ll have two babies under two.”

“I told you I would do whatever it took to make your dreams come true, and I meant it. Having another baby will be the icing on the cake, and ensure I have you locked down tight. You aren’t going to leave your own personal genie in a bottle.”

“How many strokes does it take before the genie comes out?”
