He blinked a couple of times, then shook his head. “I’d l...like to see what you come up with.”
“Okay. I have a few marketing ideas, but the person you really need to speak with is Judith. I feel the décor and the logo should be cohesive.”
“I can’t believe she agreed.”
“She gets a puppy out of the deal.”
Lorenzo’s puzzled look caused her to smile.
“She’s been bugging Justin to get one for a while.”
“Can we wait for Judith then? On the Cade’s talk.”
“What are we going to talk about then? You keep limiting topic ideas, and—”
“You.”
She faltered when he interrupted her, then she huffed out a sigh. “Seriously? You won’t talk about you, but you want to talk about me?”
“I’ve missed you.”
Those simple words brought a new wave of emotion, one that demanded release as a tear slipped down her cheek.
“Please don’t cry, Trina. It breaks my heart.”
He’d said those words to her before.
He’d whispered them in her ear as she had clung to him, skin to skin.
First times hurt, though, and her tears had flowed until they were replaced with gasps and sighs, and declarations of love.
“This is how it’s supposed to be,”he’d said.
And the next day, he was gone.
“Trina?”
Another tear slipped down her cheek. “I’ve missed you, too. Asshole.”
“Asshole,” he laughed, then his smile diminished. “I deserve that.”
“Damn straight you do. Just so we’re clear.”
He nodded. “Crystal. Did you really miss me?”
“I’m not above hitting an injured man.”
“Oh, so I’m a man now, not a boy? Nice.”
Oh, he was nice.
He was very nice.
He’d grown at least an inch taller, and his lean, muscular frame had filled out in all the right ways, and...
“They said I could probably go home tomorrow.”
And she was about to lose her all-access pass to him.
