Swirling around, she sank down into a chair. “These old bones hurt when I stand too long. Now, tell me about birth controlling. Is there a way for me to get rid of it?”
Like Emily would tell her that information. She just wanted to plant some doubts in her mind.
Emily smiled. “I don’t have enough time to speak to you about birth control. I need to get some sleep. I have breakfast to cook in the morning and then there is a meeting with Aunt Rose. You may have gotten us fired tonight.”
The woman laughed. “Rose knows better than to cause my grandsons problems. I’ll not accept her messing things up.”
Emily tilted her head. “Please tell me you didn’t have anything to do with that bull getting loose tonight.”
“Dear, you need your rest. Tomorrow night, I think you should tell me about controlling births.”
“Eugenia,” she said in a warning voice.
She started to disappear and Emily yelled. “You have got to stop these shenanigans to push us together. Someone is going to get hurt.”
“Sleep well, dear,” Eugenia called as she disappeared.
