Page 3 of Adore Her

I don’t know what I expected Jude’s little sister to look like. A younger, more feminine version of him, I guess. Which is a wildly stupid assumption, I know. In reality, there’s nothing Jude-like about Cora. She’s all woman. She’s all curves.

She’s so gorgeous, there’s a goddamn aura glowing around her.

The more I take her in, the more her presence stokes the fire within me. I’m instantly entranced by her bright blue eyes. Her plump red cupid’s bow lips. Her hourglass figure.

But it’s those sumptuously wide hips of hers that really make my cock throb.Childbearing hips.Never have I looked at a woman and thought that before.

But Cora does something to me.

She makes me feel like a caveman who’s just found his woman.

Mine.

The fact that her eyes haven’t met mine yet ignites a jealous irritation in me. The only reason I’m able to stay cool is because there’s no lust in her eyes as she looks at the shithead standing next to me.

“You must be Kurt,” she says, her eyes focused on him like he’s an animal she’s got in her crosshairs. “You got the blonde part right, obviously. Not so right about the ‘dumb’ part, though. Shockingly, I’m not a needy bitch, either.”

“I’m really sorry about that,” he says, his voice almost breaking. “I’m a total asshole. An idiot.”

“Don’t beat yourself up about it. There’s always one in every group of friends, right?”

“I—uh—” Kurt stutters, then smartly decides to shut up.

“I’m Graham,” says Graham, stepping forward and offering her his hand to shake. “So sorry about Kurt. You’re right. Heisthe idiot of the group. By a long shot.”

Cora laughs and gives Graham a warm smile. “It’s nice to meet you, Graham.”

“Last but not least,” says Jude, who is obviously still pissed but is trying to sound not pissed, “this is Maddox, Cora.”

Cora smiles at me from the other side of the kitchen island. It’s such a sweet fucking smile, there should be cartoon butterflies bursting into flight around her.

“Hi, Maddox.”

I give her a nod. “Cora.”

Jude is looking at me strangely. With a curious smile, he says, “You okay, man?”

Nope. I’m not okay. Not even close. I’ve just fallen in love at first sight with my best friend’s little sister. The most accurate word to describe my current state would befucked.

I grab my beer from the counter. Take a swig. Swallow. Nod.

“Hey, you guys want a beer?” Graham asks Cora and Jude cheerfully.

After the awkward introduction I’ve just had with my brother’s friends, I could definitely use a beer—or something a lot harder. But I decline Graham’s offer, saying, “Maybe later. I’m going to take a look around the cabin.”

My brother frowns at me, his face etched with concern.

“You okay?” he asks quietly.

I nod as I remove myself from the kitchen. “Mmhmm. I’m good. Just want to check out the rest of this gorgeous place.”

It’s not a complete lie. I’ve only gotten a peek at our lodgings so far, and I’m dying to see the rest. Mostly, though, I want to give the guys some space. Kurt is obviously unhappy about me being here. Graham has been nice so far, but who knows how he really feels—maybe he’s just better at putting on a friendly face. As for Maddox, it was hard to read his face, but he wasn’t exactly warm and welcoming.

At the same time, there wasn’t annoyance or anger in his eyes.

There was just…raw intensity.
