Blair clenched her jaw to keep herself from saying anything. Aindreas was his son, and he was already doing so much for her. She didn’t want to sound disrespectful or ungrateful. However, she had already had too much of Aindreas as it was. His touch still reverberated through her being, heating her insides. Not to mention, he had already hurt her twice. She couldn’t imagine spending a whole day with him.
“He’s an excellent warrior and rider,” the laird continued. “I know he will be able to protect the both of ye from possible attack.”
Blair watched Alisa bow her head and dip into a deep, graceful curtsy. “Then I will ask him, my laird.”
“See that ye do.”
Alisa nodded towards the door, smiling sweetly at Blair. “Come along then. I shall arrange a carriage for us.”
Blair followed Alisa, unable to stop fidgeting with her hands. After all these days of Aindreas avoiding her, she would have to be in his presence for several hours. She felt her heart twinge with pain and worry.
After all these days of not speaking, now she had to travel with him to town.
