“I won’t leave this room after ten,” I promise, and he nods.
“I’ll come for you in the morning. We’ll have breakfast and I’ll tell you everything that happens.”
A smile tugs at my lips. “Thank you.”
He returns my smile with one that doesn’t quite reach his eyes. It’s not hard to see that he’s on edge, which doesn’t make me feel any less fear.
His hand grabs the knob to leave, and I call out. “Marcellus.”
He turns to look over his shoulder at me.
“Please save Marina at all costs.”
With one last nod he walks from my room, leaving me with a twisted gut and bile in the back of my throat.
