I stood, pinning Julian in place with a glare. For the first time since breaking our bond, I reached for my dominance power.

Or, I should say, his dominance power, because that bitch was nowhere to be found. That was fine, though, I could handle this without his mojo.

I grabbed the front of Julian’s shirt and pulled him close. “This is the last time you get to dismiss my opinion. And when it comes back to bite you in the ass, I’m going to laugh.” I pushed him away and turned, ready to walk away and cool off. Damn hard-headed man.

“Wait.”

I turned, quirking an eyebrow at him.

“You’re right. I do that. I apologize. I’m still figuring out how to do this with you. It’s been only me making every decision for quite some time. Please, give me some time to figure out how.”

I closed the mouth I had locked and loaded with a snarky response, because in my book, there wasn’t anything hotter than a gorgeous king telling me he’d learn to share his kingdom.

And Julian saw it written all over my face.

“Do you want to—” The question wasn’t even out of his mouth before I’d grabbed his wrist and blurred us both upstairs. The second we were in his bedroom, I kicked the door shut behind me and shoved him against the wall.

Julian let out a grunt, but his gaze stayed bright, fixed on me.

I yanked off his shirt, pulling the fabric clear off his body in one motion.

Fuck, I loved being a vampire.

He stood still against the wall, gaze growing brighter the more I my eyes lingered on his exposed chest.

“Do you like what you see?” he asked, smirk tilting his lips.

I lifted a shoulder. “I’ve seen better,” I teased and then squealed as he blurred away from the wall and caught me by the waist.

“You’ve seen better?” he rumbled and threw me over his shoulder.

I squealed again, butterflies taking over my stomach and tightening things well below.

“Sometimes I think you say things just to hurt my feelings,” he said, finishing off the sentiment with a sharp slap across my ass.

I sucked in a breath, shocked that he’d done that but more so at how much my body seemed to enjoy it. Ms. Bean was now awake and paying full attention.

“Is that what you’re doing, Eden?” he asked, and slapped my other ass cheek. The sting rang through me and I groaned at how much I liked it.

With one swift adjustment of his stance, he sent me flying off his shoulder and onto the bed. He raced over, catching my ankles just as I landed and yanked my body to the edge of the bed, making me squeal again.

I kicked out of his grasp, despite loving what he was doing.

Why?

I sat up and pushed him back. “Yeah, I’ve seen way better. The guys who used to come into the bar. So many hot, human Chads and Kevins.”

I stood, pushing Julian back so once again he was against the wall.

I snagged his wrist and pinned it to the wall over his head.

Julian growled at me, his free hand finding the small of my back and pressing me into him.

And I don’t know quite what came over me, but I found myself extremely focused on sinking my fangs into his neck.

“Julian?” I whispered, eyes fixed on the pulse in his neck.

“Eden?”
