“And your dad’s best friend.”

“Yep.”

“Is the sex good?”

“The best.”

“Fuck.” A flurry of emotions cross her face from concern to intrigue to excitement. “I’m glad you’re finally getting orgasms.”

“So many.” I laugh. “I didn’t realize half the things he’s done to me are possible.”

“Well, he is a doctor. Probably has a good handle on anatomy.” She goes quiet for a moment. “This is risky, though, and you’re on the rebound.”

“We have rules,” I assure her. “One week only, no feelings, no one can know.”

“One of which you’ve already broken by telling me.”

“You don’t count.”

“Pretty sure he would not say the same.”

We stare each other down through the phone.

“The responsible side of me thinks you’re playing with fire here,” she says, breaking the silence. “But the other part of me wants you to have fun and live a little. Trevor kept you from shining. Right now, you’re glowing so bright I don’t want to risk you losing it again.”

“I know.”

A text from Thomas pops up, momentarily distracting me. I tell her I have to go and promise to call her back later. I open his message as soon as we disconnect.

Thomas:All your test results came back negative.

Thomas: Hope that sweet pussy enjoyed her break because I’m coming for her.

Me: Are you done with the surgery?

Thomas: Yes, the procedure went well. Are you in Venice?

I snapa quick selfie out on the patio with the beach behind me and send it to him.

Thomas:Beautiful

Thomas: It suits you

Me: Thank you. I’m about to go look at the other apartments. I might be late getting home.

Thomas: Do you not like the house?

Me: I love it

Thomas: Then what’s the problem?

Me: It’s too much. I can’t accept it.

Thomas: That’s ridiculous. If anything you’d be doing me a favor since I never use it.

Me: I’ll think about it

Thomas: We’ll talk more about it but start heading home.
