Page 29 of Deception
Maximus stands in the now open doorway, one hand still gripping the brass doorknob, the other clenched tightly into a fist. His gaze roves over me, catching on my flushed cheeks and swollen lips, before narrowing on Kyros’ hand still up my skirt.
“This is training to you?” he asks Kyros incredulously, but I don’t miss his subtle readjustment as he attempts to reposition his hardening cock. I can’t help tugging my bottom lip between my teeth. My thoughts taking on a lascivious tone once more.
“We’ve already completed her training for today, and she did amazing.” Kyros beams, his face glowing with pride as his eyes flick to meet mine.
The admission brings a smile to my lips, and pride warms my chest. I do a giddy little dance in my seat, forgetting for a moment that seat is Kyros’ lap. He stiffens beneath me, in more ways than one.
Maximus lets out a disgusted choke at the exchange, which I ignore. Not wanting to fight with him just yet—maybe later. Right now, I just want to pick back up where Kyros and I left off.
“I heard about the council’s surprise announcement today. I leave you alone for one day and this happens?” Maximus shakes his head, as though I influenced the council’s decision just to get back at him.
“How is it my fault?” I ask in disbelief, baffled at the implication.
“That’s it. I guess I can’t leave your side,” Maximus announces, simply not bothering to respond to my question. His brow quirks at us expectantly as he gestures outside. Not leaving us any chance to continue our interrupted moment.
I reluctantly move from Kyros’ lap, and he follows, wrapping an arm around my waist. He gives me an apologetic smile and leads us out the door. But I don’t miss his lingering heated gaze, promising this would be continued. The look makes my body heat all over again.
There’s a slight dent in the doorknob Maximus had clutched tightly in his fist. I can’t help the smirk that raises to my lips, my mind running wild with speculations on why exactly he had been that frustrated. I’m back into dangerous territory as I reimagine what we could be doing if he hadn’t broken up that moment.
If only he could have let that frustration go and either watched or joined in. That damn asshat just ruins everything.
