“Mine too.” He pressed his lips to her forehead. “And that’s a good thing, considering it’s ours.”
Brooke sat up. “What?”
He grinned, looking pleased with himself. “I bought it from Felix a couple of weeks ago. Not only the Eagle’s Nest, but several acres of the surrounding land. I thought one day we might want to expand the cabin since it’s not really big enough for a family.”
She stared at him.Zingsrocketed through her like fireworks.
Sam coughed. “Uh, I mean, if you want to…”
“I want to, Sam.” She swooped down to kiss him hard. “One day.”
“So do I.” He put his hand on her nape and deepened the kiss. “I love you.”
“I love you.” She lifted her head, imagining a lifetime of looking into his dark eyes and finding herself there. Finding themboththere. “So much.”
Patting her rear, he eased away. “There’s one more thing.”
He took a boxy object from behind a cushion and set it up above their pillows. He flipped a switch. The sweet, gentle music ofWhen You Wish Upon A Stardrifted through the fort.
Her throat constricted. “Is that—”
Sam pointed upward. Bright, glowing stars and a smiling moon rotated slowly across the patterned ceiling. Her heart overflowing with joy and love, Brooke nestled back beside him.
He took her hand and rested it on his chest. His heartbeat thumped against her palm.
Together, they watched the musical universe rolling over them. The constellations were so big they looked as if they might tumble out of the sky and sprinkle them with glitter and stardust. Maybe they already had.
“Make a wish,” she whispered.
He tightened his hand around hers. “It already came true.”
