I walked to the door and tried to open it, but it was locked from the outside.

I was about to panic when the door unlocked. Grey smiled at me as he stepped in with takeout bags.

“You’re up.”

“Yeah, I wanted to leave, but I was locked in.”

“Oh, sorry. I didn’t want my friends walking in here since they have access to the password.”

I didn’t say anything, but I studied him as he walked to the dining table and placed the takeout bags on the table.

“I went out to get us breakfast.”

“I’m not hungry. Have you seen my phone?”

“Here,” he said, bringing it out from his pocket.

“What are you doing with my phone?” I asked, collecting it quickly.

“It wouldn’t stop ringing, and I knew you needed sleep.”

“But I switched it off.”

“No, you didn’t.”

“I did.”

“Whatever. Come, let’s eat.”

“No, I’m leaving.”

“You’re going back to him?” he asked, approaching me. His facial muscles hardened into something deadly.

I was scared for my life. I ran to the door, desperate to escape from whatever he was planning to do.

“I won’t hurt you, Chlo,” he said, looking hurt at my reaction.

“Open the door, Grey,” I said, unlocking my phone.

I pressed my back to the wall as he walked to the door. He opened the door and let me out.

I walked away quickly, unable to get over the fear I’d felt inside his apartment. I dialed Belvina’s number as I rode the elevator to the lobby, but she didn’t answer. I groaned and slid slowly to the elevator floor. Thank God I was the only one in here. My phone started ringing. I was annoyed it was from Morris.

I picked it up and cleared my throat to sound okay. “Hello, Morris.”

“Hi, Miss Simpson.”

“Is everything okay?”

“Mr. Sanchester is at the hospital. His mom passed out.”

I covered the speaker and mouthed a scream, making no sound. “Okay, send me the address.”

“I will do that right away.”

“Thanks.” I buried my face in my hands and groaned.

I hoped Mrs. Sanchester was okay.
