I parked the car and spotted Jackson pulling in with Grace. The kids and I hopped out of the car and wandered to the beach, where I spotted a few members of the Sunshine Breakfast Club. I glanced around for Cash but didn’t see him.

Izzy put Pancake down, and Grace called the pup over, lifting her into her arms. When Grace wasn’t looking, I saw Jackson loop a box around Pancake’s collar and whisper in her ear.

I didn’t know what was going on, but I started to wonder...

Pancake looked up at Jackson with such big doe eyes, and Grace looked as oblivious as always.

When I spotted Grandma Millie with her boyfriend and Jackson’s parents, who were sitting under cover next to Carter, it suddenly felt real. Sure, there were all of their friends gathering around for Grace’s antique store celebration, but why would Jackson make us start at the beach?

And then I saw the candles and rose petals lining a path to the water.

Grace spotted them, too, when Izzy let out a low whistle.

“Jackson, this looks a bit romantic,” Grace told Jackson.

The crowd started lining up as we watched Grace hold Jackson’s hand as they walked toward the water.

Within seconds, Jackson got down on one knee and whistled for Pancake, who zoomed toward them. We all sucked in a deep breath and waited.

“Grace, you’ve taught me that my life was missing a lot. I’d barely scratched the surface of happiness, but you and Izzy made me realize what true bliss is. The thought of living another day without you being mine makes it hard to breathe.”

Pancake crashed into Jackson as he held Grace’s hand, and everyone chuckled, including Grace.

“Grace, will you make me the luckiest man in the world? Will you marry me?” He held Pancake up for Grace to see the ring, and the crowd melted.

Chapter Twenty-Eight

Cash

My parents called me to the house, and I stopped working on my latest rental the moment they did. They wouldn’t tell me what it was about, so I thought the worst.

Hunter got into trouble?

Maybe Brielle got Hunter into trouble?

I shook my head as I did a light tap on my parents’ front door and opened it.

“It’s Cash,” I called into the emptiness.

I walked down the hall and saw the slider open and both of my parents drinking margaritas with Millie Bailey on their patio.

This didn’t look good.

“Hello, Cash,” Grandma Millie stood with her own pink drink. “It’s nice to see you.”

“Always nice to see you, Millie,” I said, giving her a quick hug.

Grandma Millie chuckled. “He didn’t just grunt at me.”

I laughed. “Come on. I was never that bad.”

Everyone’s brows rose.

“Was I?”

My mom smiled as I bent down and kissed her cheek.

“So, you called me over. Is everything okay?”
