“Well, yeah. And you forgot your broken foot.”

I let out a happy sigh as I watched so many people wandering around with cinnamon-apple donuts and drinks, chatting with their neighbors, and enjoying the season without mosquitos.

“Do you think this thing between your brother and Daisy might work out?” I asked Cash, and then a thought popped into my head.

“It could. Even I must confess that the book club has a good track record.” He wrapped his arms around my shoulders and pulled me in for a quick kiss.

“You’re finally a convert.”

He laughed and nodded. “I suppose I am.”

“Remember how we promised we’d be open and honest with one another?” I asked, spinning around to look at Cash.

“Uh, yeah. Kind of hard to forget.”

“Well, I have to confess that when my driver was taking me to the airport, I saw your Jeep in Daisy’s driveway.”

He smirked. “And?”

“And I was just curious what you were doing there.”

His smile widened. “You wouldn’t believe me.”

I crossed my arms over my chest. “Try me.”

“I went there to warn her about tonight.”

I gasped as my hand flew to my chest. “You wouldn’t.”

He shook his head. “I couldn’t. Once I got to her house and she started chatting away, I realized that she might actually be an amazing match for Hunter. There’s something about the damn Sunshine Breakfast Club.”

“If Hunter will take the hint.” I glanced around the property, not seeing him. “Speaking of, where is he?”

Cash slid out his phone. “Good question. It was my job to get him here.”

“Nice work, slick.”

Cash laughed and dialed his brother’s phone and looked at me. “Last I spoke with him, he was just grabbing a coffee at—”

The moment we both heard what he was saying, the color drained from our faces.

A coffee shop first thing?

It had to be Brielle.

“Oh, no,” I muttered right when Hunter answered.

“Hey, Bro,” Hunter said. “We’re just pulling into the parking lot.”

Cash stared at me while he spoke to his brother. “You’re not alone?”

“Why would I ever go to a party stag unless it’s a wedding?”

I rolled my eyes and tried to keep in a chuckle.

“Who’s with you?” Cash asked.

“Brielle.”
