Waking up in Cash’s arms this morning was a dream. He nuzzled his whiskers along my cheek, and I chuckled before he hopped up from the bed.

“Time to shave,” he said. “I’m hopping in the shower. My brother will be at my house in an hour or so.”

For some reason, the idea of spending a camping trip with Cash’s brother freaked me out a bit. I had no idea what he was like or what he would think of Cash and me.

I sat up and pulled the sheet up to my chin. “I hope your brother likes me.”

Cash turned around and smiled. “He will love you.”

When Cash turned on the shower and stepped inside, I groaned and fell back against the soft pillows.

I knew that I liked Cash. There was no doubt about that. He was all I could think about in between getting obnoxious emails from my legal team. But the idea of this turning into something more than casual panicked me.

I should know better than to get involved with someone so quickly after the horrible relationship I just got out of. Yet, there was something happening between Cash and me that I couldn’t even understand. I craved him. I daydreamed about my future with him in it.

Shoving down the sheets with my big boot, I flopped out of bed and got brave. Holding my head up high, I marched right into the bathroom, seeing Cash’s beautiful and very naked body as beads of water rolled down his skin with his eyes closed.

I turned right around and hopped in the other shower down the hall after unfastening myself from my boot. I’d never want to leave the shower if we started up again.

As I rinsed the last of the soap off, I heard Cash whistling downstairs, and for some reason, it made my entire day. It sounded like such a happy whistle coming from a happy guy.

I dried off, wrapped the towel around me, and picked up my boot as I wandered down the hall back to the bedroom, where I slipped on a pair of jeans and a red flannel over a white camisole. I glanced at my bag, where I’d packed jeans, shorts, multiple sweatshirts, and tees. Wisconsin weather changed every hour this time of year, and I didn’t want to be caught freezing to death.

After struggling with the Velcro and straps on my boot, I made my way downstairs, where I spotted Cash holding two giant coffee mugs. He handed me one and kissed the tip of my nose.

“You look gorgeous,” he said, taking a sip while looking over the top of the mug.

A smile tugged at my lips. “Yeah. You’re not looking so bad yourself.”

And that was an understatement. The man had a knack for looking like he had stepped out of an outdoor catalog. All he was missing was an axe propped on his shoulder. He had the smoldering smile down.

“Hunter texted that they’re only thirty minutes away.”

“Eek.”

He laughed. “What was that?”

“Sorry. I’m kind of freaking out a lot.”

Cash swept his fingers along my cheek and smiled. “Don’t be.”

I blew out a gust of air and grinned. “Fine. I’ll pretend like I’m not freaking out a little.”

“Why would you? You’re smart, funny, amazing, and completely out of my league.”

I chuckled, putting my coffee on the counter. “Yeah, right. You have like the perfect family. You’re out ofmyleague.”

I reached into a bag of almonds, and Chewie came running.

Cash scowled. “What’s that about?”

“It’s the only way Chewie comes for me.”

He shook his head. “Anyway, I’m not dating your parents. I’m dating you, and you are most definitely out of my league.”

I shrugged.

“You are so wrong it hurts my heart.” He set his mug down and pulled me into him. “Give yourself some credit.”
