“This is something I have to do on my own. Plus it looks like you’ve got a lot of work to do these upcoming weeks. At least that’s what I’d guess and more or less what my dad said.”
“What else did he say?”
“He always says, ‘you can never make a good deal with a bad guy.’”
I nod. “And which one am I? A good guy, or a bad guy?”
“That’s what I’m still trying to find out.”
“Well, your dad made a deal with me, so that tells you where he stands.” I pause. “His words, not mine.”
“Maybe you’re just manual labor to him. Your words, not mine.”
Damn, she is witty and it makes me want her even more than just her physical beauty.
“I have to go,” she repeats.
“I’ll take you.”
“I’ll take myself,” she says forcefully, so I slowly lift my hand from hers.
She’s clearly more than some spoiled rich kid. She’s got a head on her shoulders. A very pretty one but one with a quick-witted brain, values, and principles. One she needs to verify that I have too before this can go any further.
She turns on a heel and walks out through the lobby. I do what any self-respecting obsessed man would do.
I wait until she pulls out of the lot and I follow her on my motorcycle.
