I grinned. “I hope it does with Autumn.”

“The available women in the company will be disappointed. To them, you’re single.”

“I’ve never considered myself on the market after the divorce.”

Will reached to shake my hand. “Glad to have you on board.”

“I appreciate the opportunity.” I gripped his hand firmly. On my way out, I stopped at Davina’s desk. Thought it might be a good idea to smooth things over a bit. I didn’t want her working against me with Autumn.

When she saw me, she glowered. “Can I help you, Mr. Morgan?”

I shoved my hands in my pant pockets. “I’m not here to hurt her.”

“Really? Snatching the director’s position out from under her isn’t hurting her?”

Ouch. I sighed. “You know Autumn didn’t really want the position.”

“Yes, she did.”

“Well, even if she did, she’ll get over it.”

“Wow, Mr. Morgan, you haven’t changed a bit.”

“Oh, but I have. I’m more determined to get what I want.”

“Clearly.” Her phone rang. “Is there anything else?” She lifted the phone.

“No. See you around.” I strode away from Davina’s desk. It hadn’t gone so well with her.

Curious glances were shot my way from both men and women. I nodded to some as I made my way to the elevator and ignored the ones ogling me like I was a piece of meat. As I entered, I pushed the button for the seventh floor and exhaled.

Relishing the brief solitude I had in the silver box, I closed my eyes. Autumn was in the building. On my floor. My stomach had been in knots all morning since I saw her. The shock on her beautiful face had imprinted on my mind.

I had no doubt she would make getting her back difficult. I deserved as much. But I knew Autumn inside and out. All her quirks, fears, and desires. How to make her melt and how to piss her off.

Right now, she was furious with me, just how I wanted it. We’d always had the best make-up sex after an argument or when I pissed her off. I expected no less from her despite being divorced.

Autumn was still mine. I saw it in her eyes, felt it in my bones as we stood inches away from each other. After three years, the magic we shared was not gone. That was all I needed to proceed with my plan of winning my wife back.

Let the fun begin.

The day passed quickly with all the meetings I had. By five o’clock, I could see the floor was nearly empty from the window in my office. In my direct line of vision, I could see Autumn’s lights were still on. How fortuitous she was where I could keep an eye on her.

My Boo managed to avoid me all day. I’d gone to her office at lunch, but she was gone. I called her phone and got an answering machine. Later I found out she was in a meeting. I emailed her to have dinner with me. It sat in her inbox unread.

I’d had about enough of her avoidance. I wasn’t about to waste any more time being without the love of my life. Three fucking years was long enough.

I shut down my computer, grabbed my briefcase, and turned the lights off. Only a few people milled about as I stalked toward Autumn’s door. I knocked twice, then entered. She was standing with her handbag like she was getting ready to leave.

That perfect fucking mouth of hers gaped when I closed the door and pulled the blinds down on the window facing the marketing floor.

She quickly recovered and squared her shoulders, her whiskey-colored eyes flashing with fury. I fucking loved seeing her this way.

“Get out.”

“No, Boo. We have some things to discuss. Have dinner with me.”

A mocking laugh bubbled out of her. “You’re out of your damn mind. After the stunt you pulled. How did you do it? How did you get the director’s position when I was next in line for it?”
