Sugar was her official nickname. It was what everyone in the club called her. I loved it, but not as much as I loved my bride.
I spotted my lovely lady. She and Mickey were serious as fuck, but it didn’t stop me from approaching them.
“Baby?”
Surprise flashed on her face. “Hi!” She grabbed my hand. “I was just going to come and find you.”
Right. Eve and I might’ve only been together for two months, but I could read her like a book. Right now, my wife was lying to me.
Mickey blinked as if trying to hide her emotions. “Congratulations, Matt. I’m so happy for both of you. You better take good care of my girl, or I’ll hunt you down.”
Why did I get the feeling Mickey was going somewhere?
“You have nothing to worry about, Mick.” Eve smiled at me. “Right?”
I nodded, feeling more suspicious than before. “So when can I dance with my wife?”
“How about right now?” Eve reached her free hand out to hug Mickey, then whispered in her ear. When the two women pulled apart, their eyes shimmered with unshed tears. Was it happiness making them emotional, the sort of thing chicks did at weddings, or something totally unrelated? I’d find out later.
Once I had Eve on the dance floor and the song I selected played, I felt whole. I’d turned into a needy son of a bitch since she had come into my life. When I wasn’t with her, I missed the hell out of her. I’d even had her quit her job at Walmart because I hated knowing she wasn’t in the clubhouse. Eve had called me a controlling caveman, but there’d been a bright smile on her face.
After getting my way, I’d worshiped her body all night to show my appreciation.
I planned to worship her all over again tonight.
She clasped her fingers together behind my neck. “I love this song. Did you pick it?”
“I did. It reminds me of you.”
“God, you’re irresistible when you’re sweet to me.”
“I must be sweet a lot to you then. You’re always distracting me from my work because youneedme.”
“Hey, don’t go complaining. You’re the one who made me quit my job. I can’t ignore your alpha-hotness. It calls to me.”
I snorted. “No complaints here. I can’t get enough of you, Sugar.”
“Mmm,” she hummed, pressing her lips to mine. “I love you.”
“Love you too, beautiful.” I kissed her through the rest of the song. When it ended and another started, I asked, “What’s going on with Mickey?”
“Nothing.”
“Eve, I can tell you’re lying.”
She sighed. “I promised not to tell.”
“But I’m your husband.”
“And she’s my best friend since grade school.”
I growled low in my throat. “We shouldn’t keep secrets from each other.”
“Ha! Says the president of a biker club who refuses to talk about club business with his wife. Don’t worry about Mick. It doesn’t concern you.” She turned her head as if looking for Mickey. “I promised I wouldn’t tell.”
“And do you think I’ll blab? Don’t you trust me?” What the hell was going on with my woman?
Her hand pressed to my cheek. “I trust you.”
