Page 19 of Violent Attraction

“The real world is not ready for Isabella Morales.” The truest thing I’ve said to her in two years.

A small blush covers her cheeks at my words, but she tries to cover it as she takes of her cap and readjust her hair.

Have I mentioned just how beautiful she is when her dark locks are flowing down her back? Seeing her hair like this makes me want to reach out and touch its smoothness. Makes me want to wrap my hand around the strands and bring her lips to mine.

Those are dangerous thoughts to have.

My mind is right, those are dangerous thoughts, especially when they come to Isabella.

But that doesn’t stop me from taking a few steps closer and brushing a few strands of hair behind her ear.

A small gasp leaves her lips at the action.

This is the closest I have been to her since I told that one day she would be mine.

My eyes stay with hers as the strands settle in place, with my thumb rubbing against the edge of her earlobe. We stand in this position for long enough to have Isabella lean into my touch. Her eyes are even closing and I have to fight with myself to not lean in even more and place my lips against hers.

A loud cheer is what finally breaks us apart, even making Isabella take more than a few steps back.

She looks at me with wide brown eyes and I just give her a nod.

We broke apart just in time because seconds later, Camila is running straight to us with Leo following a few steps behind.

“Congratulations!” Camila runs straight to her sister and wraps her arms around her waist, her head almost hitting Isabella’s shoulder.

Isabella laughs and brings her sister in, placing a kiss on her hair in the process. “Thank you.”

She lets go of Camila and soon she is getting the same hug and congratulations from Leo. When she steps out of Leo’s arms, Isabella looks around, looking for someone.

“Papá didn’t come.” It’s not a question but a statement of fact. By the way that her voice sounds, she expected Ronaldo not to make an appearance.

Leo shakes his head. “Something came up that he had to take care of. He said that he will be there tonight for your celebratory dinner.”

Isabella nods, probably already knowing the drill when it comes to her father.

When it comes to his daughters, Ronaldo shows up when he wants to, not when they need him. From the look on Isabella’s face, it looks like today was one of the days that she needed him to be here.

“Time for ice cream!” Camila announces causing her two siblings to give her their attention.

“Ice cream? Who said we were going for ice cream?” Leo crosses his arms along his chest and looks down at the little girl.

Said little girl just smiles at her brother and turns to look at me, not saying a word.

Leo raises an eyebrow at me. I sigh. “She was complaining about how hot it was, so I told her I would take her to ice cream if she stopped complaining. She stopped.”

Leo shakes his head and a sweet giggle escapes Isabella before she turns to Camila. “I’m up to get a few scoops of ice cream.”

“Yes!” Camila grabs Leo by the hand and starts dragging him off the field.

Leaving me with Isabella.

Isabella gives me a small smile before starting to follow her brother and sister, but I stop her.

My hand lands on her forearm before she can move further away from me.

She gives me a look of confusion, looking from where my hand is on her to my face.

After a few seconds I finally let her go and give her a smile of my own.
