“I’m ready,” my voice shakes and a second doesn't even go by before Camila’s arms are around me.
“I’m sorry,” her hold grows tighter and I breathe in the familiarity of her perfume.
“I know.”
Everyone is sorry.
No matter how hard everyone tried, we are still here. The wedding day is still here and I still have to get married.
We pull apart and we both wipe away the tears that seemed to have escaped.
“Let’s get this over with,” I tell her with a curt nod and square my shoulders.
The faster that I’m out there, the closer I will be to living this new life of mine. The quicker that life will pass by.
I grab the skirt of my dress and walk out of the bridal suite. Standing right outside of the room is my brother, Leonardo and his wife Serena, who gives me a sad smile before coming to me and giving me a hug.
“You look beautiful.” I know she is telling me the truth but at the moment, I hate the words.
“Thank you,” I hug my sister-in-law and give my brother a smile over her shoulder.
After a few moments with my siblings, we finally start making our way to the front of the church.
It’s time.
It’s time and nothing is going to stop this wedding.
As I make my way over to where me and my father need to be before the music starts, I get the sensation that I’m being watched.
I look up until I meet a pair of light brown eyes staring back at me. Light brown eyes that I have spent countless hours and nights thinking, dreaming about and looking into.
Light brown eyes that are my favorite shade of brown and can tell me countless stories.
Light brown eyes that belong to the one man that will forever hold my heart in his hands.
He’s here.
I can’t believe he’s here. I told him not to come. If he was here, there would be a possibility of me not going through with the wedding. Not only that but I have this irrational fear that if Emilio saw that he was here, things would get ugly.
As Santiago gives me a small smile, I forget everything bad that is about to happen and just concentrate on the happiness that that smile brings me.
That smile is only meant for me.
I don’t smile back.
“Are you ready, Isabella?” My father’s voice comes up next to me, taking my gaze off Santiago Reyes.
I look at my father and he looks unbothered as if he wasn’t about to walk his daughter down the aisle.
I give him a nod. “I’m ready.”
Without a word, he nods and walks over to our designated spot, dragging me along with him and we take our place next to each other.
The church bells continue to ring and soon the sound of the orchestra starts to fill the church.
Then the doors open.
First, Leo and Serena walk out arm and arm, then they are followed by Camila with Emilio’s friend.
