“Sure. I can do that. It’s why I am still alive so far.”
There was a snort of amusement from the crewwoman before the door closed.
Janessa giggled, and Kethen put his arm around her, pulling her close. “Funny female, Pet.”
She grinned all the way down to the small boardroom where he was conducting his formal grovelling.
It certainly was educational.
Chapter Seven
When they got ready for bed, it felt weirdly normal. Janessa pulled off her dress and set the chain next to her boots. She was grabbed from behind and lifted against his chest.
“Computer, play music from the Terran archive.”
Janessa froze, and then familiar music started to play. She gasped and started shivering.
“Computer, playShatter Me.”
The song paused, and the new song started up.
She squealed and twisted in his arms, covering his face with kisses.
He blinked in surprise and then laughed. “You have to explain this music to me, but as long as you like it, I am happy.”
She sighed. “When I drove, I would dance in my seat as much as I could. I used music to stretch my muscles out. Discussing music was what bonded me and my friend, Iris, at the education station.”
“She liked music?”
Janessa nodded. “She used it for work.”
“How?”
“She danced to it for pay.” Janessa shrugged. “It helped her put her sister through school.”
Kethen’s face grew curious. “What kind of dancing?”
“To tease men.”
He paused. “Do you do this dancing?”
“No. Not something to tease. I dance to celebrate, to move, and just generally enjoy the motion.”
He cocked his head. “Will you demonstrate this kind of motion?”
“I am thinking of demonstrating a different sort of motion.”
She tackled him to the bed, and his wings spread. His grin was unmistakable, and he gripped her hips.
She proceeded to demonstrate the kind of motion she could get into when the music was right.
They were on their sides, and he murmured, “I should have found the music earlier.”
She laughed. “Did I tire you out?”
“No, but you scattered my wits. That does not happen often.”
She rocked her hips against him and chuckled when he grunted. He gripped her hips. “Yes, Pet, I have seen what they can do. Let them rest for the night. I have plans for them tomorrow.”
