Page 2 of Vengeful Union

As soon as I enter the clearing, where my prey is currently stripped naked and hanging from the rafters by his hands, like a slab of meat at the butchers, my men stand to attention.

“Jamie,” I say, my voice laced with anger.

He jerks against his bindings, and the stench of his fear clogs the air. “Finn,” he whispers. “What’s going on?”

I ignore him.

“Bannon,” I call out to one of my soldiers. He’s a little green and sneaky. This will tell me if he’s cut out to be part of the Clann.

He steps forward, head held high. “Yes, boss.”

“What do we do to traitors?” I ask. There are enough men here to ensure every man of the Clann and Famiglia will know what happened by morning. When my sister married the Head of the Italian Mafia, it joined our two families together. Now, whenever shit goes down, both families are embroiled in the feud.

“Eradicate them, boss,” he responds without missing a beat.

“How?” I snap, as I step closer to the bastard hanging in front of me.

“By using them as an example, to let your men know it won’t be tolerated.”

“So, tell me: why did no one tell Jamie here that going to the Bratva is a sure-fire way to get himself an audience with me?”

“Boss…” Jamie says, shaking his head in denial. “I didn’t—I wouldn’t.”

“Bullshit,” I hiss. “We know you and Maksim have been having meetings. I want to know why, and what you’ve said.”

Every man in here stands taller, a look of disgust in their eyes as they stare at their former comrade. They know what’s about to happen. He’s not only betrayed Makenna and I, but every single one of them too.

“Boss…” Jamie pleads. “I’m sorry.”

“Sorry?” I echo. “For fucking what?”

I need to know what he’s done.

“He came to me—Maksim. He wanted information.” He bows his head, his words filled with shame. He sucks in a deep breath. “I didn’t want to tell him anything, but I had to. He threatened Becky.”

Ah, Becky. The woman who has enjoyed more than a few of my men. She’s young and ambitious, sleeping with as many made men as she can. For women like Becky, their ultimate goal is to become a mafia wife.

“So, you sold us out.”

He shakes his head. “What was I supposed to do?”

“Do you love her?” I question.

His gaze comes to me, his dark green eyes filled with confusion and his brows knitted together. “What? No.”

“Is she pregnant?”

He blinks rapidly, his lips twisted in a sneer. “No.”

I grit my teeth. “Then why did you betray the Clann?”

His face pales, and his body trembles. “I couldn’t let her die.”

“She’s not pregnant and you do not love her. So why did you pay for her life with yours?”

I’m incredibly disappointed at how easy this prick folds. God, no wonder Maksim went to him. He saw the weakness and capitalized on it.

“What?” He gapes at me.“Boss, you’ve got to understand—”
