He puts a knee on the bed, his hands balled into fists on either side of my body. “What the fuck do you think we were doing?”
“We had sex, Finn. You took what you wanted.”
He stares at me in bewilderment. “What?” he snaps.
I sit up, confused by his anger. “Come on, you aren’t stupid. What did you think would happen? You bought me, and you got what you wanted. Why are you so upset?”
“Because you’re mine,” he snarls, his face inches from mine. “You’re mine. I’d pay every fucking dime I had if it meant you were safe. I didn’t pay to fuck you.”
The anger in his voice is like a whip against my skin. “What do you think will happen between us? Finn, so much has gone on. Things you don’t know.”
“You’re not fucking listening,” he growls. “Christ, what do you need to hear for it to sink in? I want you—in my bed, in my life, and by my side.”
I blink at his words. “What?” I whisper, certain I didn’t hear him correctly.
His smile is completely disarming. “Princess,” he murmurs.
“You want us to be together?” I’m still whispering.
“Label it however the fuck you want. As long as your arse is in bed beside me every night, yes.”
I shake my head. “Isn’t this moving a little fast?”
His lips slam down on mine, his tongue sweeping into my mouth. He kisses me until I’m in a fog. “Tomorrow is never promised, baby. We take today and live to the fullest. So no, it’s not moving too fast.”
I can’t help but gape at him. Is he really what I want? Is he worth being in this life—something I’ve been adamant about not wanting?
He’s already given me the answer.
Yes, he is.
“Get in,” I tell him, as I pull the sheets back so he can climb in beside me.
I watch as he strips down until he’s completely naked. I bite my lip to stop the moan from slipping out. How is it legal for him to look that good?
He climbs in beside me and pulls me into his arms. “Talk to me, Dest. What is it you’re hiding?”
So fucking much. But he deserves to have some truth from me; to know he’s earning my trust.
“You know my father orchestrated the hit on Holly, right?” I’ve always wondered if he knew.
He nods. “I know—I’ve always known.”
“Did you know he’s the reason my mom is dead?”
He presses a soft kiss against my head. “Princess,” he murmurs.
I suck in a sharp jagged breath. It hurts talking about this. “She fled the night she died. My father wasn’t happy—.” My voice is barely a whisper, but I know he hears me. His arms tighten around me, pulling me closer to his body.
“Fuck,” he growls. “He ordered it to look like a carjacking. Bastard.”
“You were right. He paid off the cops and got away with it. I hate him, Finn. I really hate him.”
He kisses my head. “I know, baby, but he’ll get what’s coming to him. I promise.”
I know he will, but it won’t be Finn who will kill him. I won’t allow it to go down like that.
“My father has been in talks with the Russians.” I finally tell him the details he needs to know to keep himself safe. “Maksim hates your family—not that you can blame him. They’re planning something. What? I’m not sure. But you need to be vigilant.”
