Spreading my legs wider, I grinned at him. “I won’t change my mind. I know what I want and it’s you.” He lowered himself over me, pressing his body into mine. I touched my hand to his cheek. “If this doesn’t work, I won’t care. I might not remember our time together or our bond, but my wolf, my guardian, and my heart all recognize you. So, it’s like you said… You’re it for me. Period.”

He kissed the tip of my nose. “I went my entire life thinking I’d never find my mate. Then there you were. A feisty eighteen-year-old, nibbling her lip while arguing her case in front of the Council. The moment I saw you, I was a goner.”

His lips brushed mine. My hand weaved through his hair. His fingers trailed down my body, caressing the most sensitive spots. I moved my hand over his back. A sigh slipped from me when his mouth found my nipple. A soft growl escaped him when my hips pressed up into him.

“I’m ready,” I repeated. “I’m ready to be yours again.”

He lifted his head to look at me while he slowly slipped inside me. He held himself halfway in, waiting for me to tell him to stop. I lifted my hips again, silently telling him to keep going. We held our breath as he gently pushed all the way inside me. He waited a beat before he began moving.

The sensation of him inside me was so incredible I forgot about the mate bond and gave myself over to the pleasure. He nuzzled my neck to kiss and lick the spot just under my ear. Then he slowly trailed his lips to meet mine. His hand slid under my bottom to tilt my hips in a way that let him sink even deeper inside me.

As the pleasure reached a crest, I nipped his bottom lip. “I’m close,” I whispered against his lips. “Don’t stop.” I added when his movements faltered, and I lowered my hands to his ass to urge him on. “Come with me, Mr. Fraser.”

He broke our kiss to look at me and the second our eyes met we plummeted over the edge together. Sparkles of red and gold flowed from our bodies until a blanket of flames enveloped us. Our wolves were just under the surface, trying to get to each other. I saw the wolf in his eyes when he lowered his lips to mine for another kiss.

“This is it, isn’t it?” I asked breathlessly. I felt him grow hard inside me again. He didn’t answer me but moved his hips while watching me.

The pressure built in my core even as tears filled my eyes. Everything came rushing back to me. The first time I ever saw him, dressed in his business suit sitting on a bench while I defended myself to the Council. I remembered feeling a pull toward him, an urge to touch him so strong I’d taken a step toward him. That day in my kitchen when he’d first kissed me, and I had kicked him in the balls. The birthday party he’d thrown me. Kissing in his gazebo. The amazingly thoughtful gift he’d given me. The first time we’d pleasured each other. And I remembered the first time the bond had connected us.

When the orgasm washed over me, I cried and laughed at the same time, pulling his lips back to mine. The fire disappeared and the blue sky was above me again. “I remember. I remember everything.”

“Are you sure?”

“I’m sure,” I said with a smile.

“Fuck, you don’t know how happy that makes me.” He rolled over, pulling me on top of him. His arms tightened around me so hard I couldn’t breathe, but I didn’t care. I was in his arms, and I washisagain.

Joy filled me, and I laughed. I touched my hand to his cheek and my lips to his for a tender kiss before whispering, “Let’s go home, Mr. Fraser.”

Chapter Ten

We walked hand in hand to where we’d left our clothes. After dressing we headed toward the house to tell the others, but a twitch in the air had us turning back to the tree line. Vampires of all sizes and shapes seemed to ooze from the trees. There were so many of them they reminded me of roaches.

“I don’t understand why they keep coming. After last time I figured they’d realize I can take them out in one shot,” I said.

“They do what they’re told. Celeste told them to come, so they came.”

We heard and felt Stella, Philip, Isaac, and Ciara headed our way.

“Damn, there’s a lot of the fuckers this time,” Isaac said from my side. “I know it wiped you out last time, but you’re gonna have to use your power again.”

“I realize that,” I muttered. When my wolf responded to my request, the power sparked to life then fizzled out. “What the fuck?” I tapped her again and the same thing happened. I could feel her confusion as she tried a third time. Still nothing happened. “Uh… I got nothing. I don’t understand it, but my power isn’t answering.”

I looked up at Liam and he shook his head just as a laugh sounded from the sea of vamps. Celeste stood in front of them with Bruno at her side. The second he saw Stella he ran for her.

Celeste sighed. “I knew I should have killed you when they took your mother,” she said as she held her hand out toward him. He got halfway to her before face-planting into the ground. He groaned but didn’t stand again.

Stella knelt beside him, trying to revive him. When he didn’t respond to her touch, she glared up at Celeste who wasn’t paying attention to either of them. Her gaze moved between me and Liam.

“I see you reignited your little bond. How sweet,” Celeste said, in a tone that was mocking and full of disgust. “Now you understand why I did what I did.”

“No, I don’t. I don’t understand any of it.” I glared at her. “Why break the bond? Why go through all of that just to take my power away? Why not just take it away like you’re doing now?”

She grinned and turned her attention to Liam. “Because how else could I make him suffer? Breaking your bond, even for a short time, broke your heart. Didn’t it, Liam?” She laughed again. “Oh, it did. You poor thing. You were so sad thinking you’d never get your little bitch back.”

Liam clenched his hands into fists so tightly his knuckles turned white. I expected to see hatred in his eyes but not at the level he showed. His body shook with his anger. “Celeste, you’ve gone too far,” he said in a voice I didn’t recognize.

“Have I?” She never took her fierce gaze off him, but her tone was relaxed. “Or is it only fair I tear your heart out like you did mine?”
