“You do.”

“And she wants me to set up a meeting with Astrid so she can—” I yelped when his grip on me became bruising.

“She what?”

“Ease up a bit, would ya,” I said. He loosened his grip and caressed the sore spots. “I forgot I hadn’t told you before she blocked my memory. She came to my house and asked me to set up a meeting with Astrid. I think she wants to use Astrid to get Artemis to show her face. She has this delusion she can kill Artemis and become queen. I refused to help her, and she severed our bond.” I nibbled my lip as I worried about Liam’s insanely powerful fairy godmother. “We really should call Astrid again.”

“We should.” He nuzzled my neck, inhaling deeply. He sighed as his body relaxed. “You smell of lemons and vanilla,” he said. His breath felt warm on my neck. “It reminds me of a cake Philip’s kitchen maid used to bake for me.”

“Are you saying you want to eat me?”

“Always,” he muttered against my neck.

A laugh escaped me when he squeezed my sides. “Don’t tickle me.” I laughed harder when he did it again while nibbling on my ear lobe. “Stop. I’m still mad at you.”

“I can tell.” His voice was low and husky. He groaned when I wriggled my hips. “If you do that again I’ll throw you to the floor and have my way with you.”

“Hmm… Tempting, but we should call Astrid now.”

“We should talk with Philip and Stella first. When we see Astrid, I want to meet with Cybil.”

I stared at him, nibbling at my lip while the meaning of what he said sunk in. “Okay. Let’s go find them.”

We found everyone in the dining room eating dinner. When we stepped one foot into the room, Stella screamed and leapt from her seat. “It worked! You’re mated again. Look everyone! They’re mated.”

Chapter Eleven

“How the hell did you know?” I asked, laughing when Stella launched herself at me.

“That horrible woman said it. Plus, there’s a vibe. I can feel it.” She let go of me and flung herself at Liam. His expression had me laughing again. She unwrapped her arms from around his neck but took him by the hand to tug him toward the table. “Come eat with us. Tell us everything.”

We obeyed her command and sat at the table to eat with them. She placed a plate with a sandwich and chips in front of each of us.

The smell of food made my stomach growl, and I popped a chip in my mouth. “There’s not much to tell, Stell. We went to Astrid. She couldn’t figure it out. But we’re mated again anyway.”

She gasped. “You shifted. You let your wolves meet.”

“Are you a fucking psychic?” I asked, gaping at her.

“No. I just know you. If your wolf was okay with Liam, you’d be okay with him. So… was the sex even better than before?”

My eyes involuntarily glanced at Isaac. He noticed and gave me a little smile. Even though we’d both found our mates, I still felt weird discussing my sex life with Liam in front of him.

“Stell, I know you’ve had your sexual awakening, and I couldn’t be happier for you, but I will not discuss this at a table that includes Liam’s sister,” I said, grasping for excuses.

“Actually, I’m kind of curious too,” Ciara said, her tone full of humor.

I looked at Liam and scoffed when he gave me a smug smile. “By all means, please share with the class,” he said, sitting back with his arms crossed over his chest.

“Bastard,” I muttered, but couldn’t stop the smile from forming on my lips. “Yes. Everything was more incredible than before. I’d never have thought that possible, but it was. Especially when the bond reconnected. It was more intense than the first time.”

Liam nodded. “I agree.”

We stared at each other, and our hands met under the table. Philip cleared his throat, reminding us we weren’t alone. “You should tell Astrid.”

“That’s next on our to do list,” I replied before taking a bite of a sandwich. I figured we could eat before we had to tell Philip and Stella they may drop dead when we kill Cybil. “What’s been going on here?”

Forever the hostess, Stella put more chips in my plate and refilled Liam’s water. “Vamps attacked. We killed them. You came back. A creepy woman hurt Liam. You killed more vamps. Now we’re eating dinner.”
