“No. I made it clear to her it was tomorrow or never.” He had his Vinur or Alpha tone on. It was hard to deny him when he used it.

“Huh, look at you, bossing around the all-powerful fairy queen.” I let out a little laugh. “Don’t get yourself turned into a frog, Mr. Fraser.”

“I’ll do my best,” he said, his tone a little calmer.

Not knowing when I’d see him again, even if it were only a matter of hours, made me frown as a heavy sense of disappointment settled into me. “If Artemis really wants to speak with you, that means Belial wasn’t lying.”

He made a sound that was part grunt, part growl. “It appears that way, but I’ll never fully trust him.”

“I don’t understand why she’d choose him,” I said, remembering when Liam said Belial was the reason Artemis had taken away the males’ magic.

“He claims he’s truly trying to make up for all his wrongdoings. If he means it, he has a lot to make up for. Delivering a message to me is a drop in the bucket to repay Artemis for all he’s done.” He paused. “I don’t know what he’s up to, but I find it hard to believe making amends is his real purpose.”

“Are you sure we shouldn’t agree to take our seats?” I was starting to think that may just solve all our problems. Celeste would have no choice but to back down and Cybil could rot in Astrid’s prison for all I cared. But it was a huge decision that I knew Liam wasn’t ready to make.

“No. I know you think it’ll stop Celeste,” he said as if he’d read my mind, “but it won’t. Artemis is more powerful than you and I put together. There’s no reason for Celeste to back down if we take our seats.”

“Fuck. Fine. Will Artemis be angry with you for refusing?”

“No. She gave us free will.” He sighed. “I’m not saying we will never take our seats, just not now. She’ll understand but will be insistent, and I’ll have to be just as resolute.”

“I’m sorry this is so stressful for you. I wish I could help you relax,” I said.

A low growl came from him. “Is that so?”

I nibbled my lip at the roughness of his voice. “Yes.”

“Hmm, we never got to finish what we started before Astrid came by.” His tone turned husky and smoky. “What are you wearing?”

I laughed a little at the clichéd question. “Your light gray silk pajama top.”

“Mmm, good. Unbutton it.”

I unbuttoned the shirt then spread it open, and my nipples hardened when the cool air hit them. “Done.”

“Close your eyes,” he said. “Are they closed?”

“Mm-hmm, yes.” My voice was barely audible as passion overwhelmed me.

“Now, imagine your hands are mine.” He growled again when I let out a shaky breath. “Tell me what you do as you do it.”

A sigh escaped me as I ran my hand down my neck, then to massage one breast then the other before moving it down my body to my inner thigh to caress the two little bumps there. The sensation of touching his mark sent sparkles of desire through me, and I let my fingers linger there. I grew breathless as I told him what I was doing to myself, what I imagined he was doing to me.

“Are you wet for me, Red?” His voice was deeper than usual.

It was a question he never needed to ask, because I got wet just thinking about him, but I moved my fingers to my center. “Yes.” I moaned a little as they moved over my clit.

“Yes,who?” The demand in his voice sent a wave of pleasure over me.

“Yes, Mr. Fraser,” I breathed into the phone.

“Good girl,” he whispered. He grunted a little when I moaned again as the pressure built in my core. “That’s it, Red. That’s what I want. I want to hear you make yourself come.”

His voice lowered and hitched a little, and I knew what he was doing. The image of him gripping himself, of his hand moving over his own silky shaft sent a surge of desire through me. “Not without you. I want to hear you too.”

“I’m well on my way, Red,” he whispered.

A sigh left me when I dipped my fingers inside my center while pretending it was his cock. When I was close to release, I moved them back to my clit. “I’m almost there,” I moaned.
