She waved her hand. “Antonio and I aren’t even official. It’s just sex. Someone to hook up with to take my mind off things. I knew you were having issues with Vinny, and I really didn’t want to steal the moment from you and be like,Oof look at a sexy man I’m fucking.” She stopped for a moment, then flashed her palms. “Don’t get me wrong, your dad is still my main guy.”

Snorting, I shook my head. “Okay, but first, the thought of you and my dad is just always going to be weird even if you’re joking about it, and second, I’d be happy for you no matter what I’m going through…or what you’re going through.”

She playfully slapped my hip. “I know, but you needed me to be there for you and whatever you’re NOT going through.” She winked. “Still here when you’re ready to talk about it.”

I nodded, suddenly sad. “I know. I just—”

“That’s not all!” She blurted looking at the floor. “I can’t go to Turks and Caicos.”

“What?!” I shot up on my knees. “Why?!”

“Antonio said he wanted to take me away.”

“The same fucking week?!”

Taking a deep breath, she closed her eyes, nodding. “I’m so so—”

“Do you not understand how much I need you on this trip?!”

“Listen!” she barked. “Antonio said Vinny ordered him to take me away and I don’t want to be caught in the middle of whatever’s going on.” She began to tear up. “I’m so freaking sorry.”

“Vinny did this?” I rumbled under my breath.

She nodded. “Please don’t say anything about it.”

“When did this happen, exactly?”

She sighed, averting her gaze. “Like an hour ago.”

Jumping off the bed, I stormed to my phone, picking it up and pressing Vinny’s name in my Favorite’s list. “I can’t believe he did that!”

“He’s going to kill me if he knows. Please don’t say anything.”

“You don’t understand how much this is upsetting to me. If you only knew what—”

Eliza?Vinny answered in a hushed tone.

We need to talk!

I’m kind of in the middle of something right now.

Suddenly, I heard a female’s voice in the background.Look at this gorgeous bedroom!

My blood ran cold, and I felt lightheaded.I…I should go.

Eliza, why did you call me? What’s going on?

Again, the woman’s voice cooed close to the phone,Vinny do you want another drink?

Oh God, I choked. I ended the call, instantly turning my phone off.

“What the fuck just happened?” Maddie sprung off the bed, rushing to my side.

Sulking, my eyes filled with tears and my phone tumbled from my fingers, plummeting to the white shag rug. “He’s with another—” I couldn’t even say it. “I think I’m going to be sick.”

“Woman?” She gasped. “Is he with another woman?”

I nodded.
