Vince slammed into her, rocking her whole body forward. Lorelei watched with wide eyes. He glanced over at her and saw she had shoved her hands into her skirt. She was pleasuring herself. The sight sent Vince over the edge. He grabbed the base of his shaft and yanked it out of Claire, making her gasp. He pumped his hand up and down, hard and fast, shaking the whole couch.

Staring into his wife’s eyes, strings of semen splashed over Claire’s stomach. He hissed through his teeth as the orgasm took hold of his body. Ecstasy pulsed through his veins as he continued to cover Claire’s flat stomach in his seed.

Chapter twenty-two

Care for your friends

Paigeaimlesslykickedoffher pumps and traipsed into the middle of the living space. She stared at the open plan first floor to gaze out of the floor-to-ceiling windows that looked out over the pool. Since Claire had moved in with Lorelei and Vince, she hadn’t had much of a chance to see her friends. Most people had moved away for college already. That was, everyone aside from Paige.

She hadn’t heard from her in a while and was worried. She’d slipped in her duties to her friend. Claire tried to rationalize it—she had been busy moving and settling into the new house, but she knew it was a lousy excuse. Vince had left the previous day on business, leaving Claire and Lorelei alone. Claire didn’t fancy hanging around with her Daddy’s wife alone, so she’d called Paige.

Paige’s eyes looked dead still, lacking all signs of life. She moped around the living room like a zombie. Claire grabbed hold of her stick-thin arms and escorted her upstairs to her brand-new bedroom. She didn’t have anything in it aside from a bed and some boxes, but she would have time to redecorate soon.

Paige plopped down on the edge of the bed, her body swaying from side to side as her eyes slipped closed then opened again at a snail’s pace. She’s high, Claire thought, feeling miserable. She hadn’t stayed away from the frat house as Claire had instructed. Guilt built up inside her gut, eating away at her.

Claire kneeled down at Paige’s feet, her hands on her knees, looking up to her with desperation. “What’s going on?” She placed a gentle hand on Paige’s knee. “Please, tell me.”

“Everything is fine,” Paige slurred. “I did what you said. I got away from the college boys.”

Claire frowned. “Everything doesn’t look fine,” she said slowly. “Paige, you look high.”

“Well, that’s the thing,” Paige started, her eyes slipping closed. “The boys wouldn’t let me go.”

Claire felt her heart skip.

“They said I was theirs,” Paige continued. “I wasn’t free to leave. I tried to leave but they threatened me. Said they knew where I lived.”

Claire gulped.

“They sold me. But it’s okay. He’s really nice.” A weak, lopsided smile morphed her feminine features.

Claire cringed. There were no words. What could she say? I’m sorry you got sold?

“The guy’s nice,” Paige repeated. “Robert. He gives me pills.”

“What kind of pills?” Claire asked.

“The good kind,” Paige said. “Oxy, mostly.”

Claire squeezed her eyes shut and turned away, hiding her pained expression. She fought back tears and clenched her jaw, refusing to break down. That wouldn’t help anyone. What she needed to do was remain strong, keep Paige in her custody until she found someone to deal with this. Paige needed to stay until her Daddy got back. She hadn’t wanted to involve him but there was no other choice now. Her friend’s life was in danger, and if Claire let her leave, she knew that it might be the last time she ever saw her.

Claire took a deep breath, forced a smile onto her lips, and looked up at Paige. “Why don’t you take a little nap? Just for a minute? You look so tired.”

Paige shrugged. “I’m okay.”

But she wasn’t. No way was she okay. “We can both have a nap,” Claire said, before pretending to yawn. “I’m exhausted. I’ve had such a long day. Haven’t you?”

Paige frowned, and eventually nodded in agreement.

“Then it’s settled,” Claire said. “You can have my bed.”

Without waiting for a response, Claire lifted Paige’s thin legs and set them on the bed. Paige instantly reclined back and closed her eyes. Within moments she was breathing heavily, drifting off into sleep.

Claire wasn’t sure what an Oxy pill was, but she’d heard the name before and knew it wasn’t good. Better safe than sorry, she thought. She took hold of Paige’s shoulder and rolled her onto her side, just in case she puked in her sleep.

Once Paige began to snore, Claire slipped out of her bedroom, leaving the door open. She stood in the hallway, peering into the room as she called her Daddy.

He answered almost immediately. “Hey baby,” he said, cheerily. “What’s going on? You miss me?”
